The Leeds family got out of their car. They stared at the house. It was brown and overgrown with vines, with black clouds brewing overhead.
“Is this from the 1880s?” asked Lydia her voice coated with sarcasm.
“No, the 1760s,” corrected Mom.
“Why did we move here?” asked Theo. 195Please respect copyright.PENANAtRSG6Un3oN
Mom replied, “We’ll only be here for a few months till we finish fixing the house.
Lydia questions, “Anyways is it going to rain?”
Dad said, “ Yeah, that’s at least what the radio said, so we have to hurry and get our stuff inside.”
Then they heard a crash of thunder
“Boom!” “Crash!”. Everyone went inside so they wouldn't get wet or electrocuted, but as soon as they opened the door one of the pictures fell off the wall. Then, all of the candles lit as Jack closed the front door. They all slowly walked through the door being very careful with every step they took.
“That's weird,” Mom said, “ I didn’t know the lights were sound activated. Too bad this beautiful picture fell. This house is hundreds of years old and it doesn't look like they had any renovations.”
“Maybe it's not sound activated, maybe it’s haunted.” said Theo, as she looked around the main floor.
“Time for breakfast!” called Mom.
Jack aesthetically yelled, “There's a dumbwaiter!
“Wow!” said Lydia sarcastically.
“This house is old,” said Theo.
Dad called out, “Hurry up and come to the table!”
They all ran over to the dining table, but as they all sat down, one of the plates went smashing against the wall! After that something or someone pulled Theo’s chair out from under her.
Theo questioned, “What was that?”
“I don’t know?” said Mom but she had a worried look on her face.
Everyone came back and sat down, and tried to ignore it but it was hard.
“Great!” said Lydia “We’re in the middle of nowhere with nobody around in a creepy house from the 1760s” 195Please respect copyright.PENANALXLrNEhmLS
