I have a book! It took me 5 years to write and get professionally edited, but now I'm looking for a literary agent to represent me! This blog will be about my journey towards publishing.245Please respect copyright.PENANA2XUPkJxIyY

If I get my way it will be one story called The Dance Between, but the problem is that its long enough to be two books, capping at about 212k words. So I will split it into two if i must, with the first book being called What Shadows Hide. Here's a brief synopsis!245Please respect copyright.PENANAg7cYM1Fd61

Edit 12/31/2022: I wanted to incorporate more of my "voice" into this synopsis rather than simply have it be a summary of events. By doing so I also introduce more of the story's main theme and tone.
While I love the line, "Some things are meant to shine in the light. Others are better left in the dark," I have been unable to work it into this new synopsis to my satisfaction. Maybe I'll use it as a callout on the back cover instead.
Every life in Iaela is born under a fated star. But if you’re Sevi, you live in a place where not even they can see; in the eternal darkness beneath stone and soil. The Cut. Wrapping around the walls of a castle and running into the very heart of a mountain, the Cut is a collection of labyrinthine tunnels, filled with fantastical glowing plants and creatures. It’s lonely, cramped, and damp, but its home—the only one Sevi has known since he awoke there four years ago, missing his memory and suffering from terrible visions.
Luckily, he isn’t alone. He has his best friend Lily—his savior and protector against the castle’s denizens: the Fablings. Invaders from a faraway land, the Fablings stormed the castle, killing its human occupants, and would gladly do the same to Lily and Sevi should they ever find them. Without her, Sevi never would have survived.
But their seclusion comes to an abrupt end when a flying ship appears bearing a human prisoner with knowledge of the Cut. Escaping through its tunnels, he quickly returns with an army to decimate the Fablings, violently separating Sevi and Lily in the ensuing battle. Alone and exposed beneath the open sky, Sevi is faced with a choice: inherit the fate waiting for him, or make one for himself.
Edit 12/14/22: Trimming down the original draft.
Sevi lives in darkness. His world is composed entirely of the Cut—a collection of labyrinthine tunnels lined with fantastical plants and creatures that wrap around the walls of a castle. He has no recollection of who he is and must spend his nights in a medically-induced slumber to avoid the nightmares and hallucinations that haunt him. With him is his best friend Lily, a stubborn girl in an iron knight’s helm who protects him from the castle’s Fabling occupiers—invaders from a faraway land that would kill them both upon discovery.
Their seclusion ends abruptly when a flying ship appears bearing a human prisoner with knowledge of the Cut. Making his escape through their tunnels, the prisoner soon returns with an army to decimate the Fablings, violently separating Sevi and Lily in the ensuing battle. Outside and alone, Sevi must adapt to a world he’s only seen from behind stone while fighting an increasing number of visions. In so doing he not only rediscovers who he used to be but also the legacy he is forced to inherit, learning that while some things are meant to shine in the light, others are better left in the dark.
