It was the start of the autumn when one day I was taking a walk in the nature with a camera in my hands. There was a maple tree across the river which was shedding it's beautiful yellow leaves which were falling on the ground gently as if they were so fragile.
I held me camera and placed it on one of my eye to focus the view and capture the moment. As I was focusing, a girl who was walking past by the tree suddenly stopped and looked at the tree as if she was admiring it's beauty. She stood between me and the tree and was admiring the beauty of the tree.
I didn't saw her face at that time. She was petite and had long brown hairs. She was wearing a a sweatshirt with a small cute skirt showing her short thin legs.
I was waiting for her to walk aside. But she was standing still admiring the leaves. One leaf shed from the tree and she moved her hand forward so that the leaf will lay upon her small palm.
When the leaf touched her palm she smiled and her cheeks were sneaking from the side of her hairs. It was like I was more interested in the girl rather than the view.
And the moment she turned smilingly and looked in my direction, my eyes widened. Her big sparkling eyes were shining like a million stars in the sky. Her smile was warm like a sun and the moment the wind swept her bangs from her face and she tucked them behind her ears and looked at me again smilingly, it was the moment I fell in love with her.
I dropped my camera and ran towards her crossing the bridge. My mind wasn't in the right state. I ran towards her but the moment I reached there she was gone.
I was devastated and when I looked on the ground I found a thin platinum bracelet. I picked it up and when I placed it on my palm it was so delicate that it looked like it'll break. It was a very thin chain of platinum embedded with small diamonds giving them an edgy look.
It was her bracelet, it was that girl's bracelet. As a human it was my duty to hand it over to the police station but I felt like it's of no use. I wanted to see her again and gave it to her myself. She was the first girl which crossed my mind and never left as if she left her trace behind like a criminal who stole my heart.
After a few days, I visited the library in our town. The library was so magical. It was filled with classics and folklores and ancient masterpieces. The library was magnificent enough to be called a fairy tale.
I was swiping my index finger on the books to find a book that my grandmother used to read. As I was looking for the book a girl crossed in front of my eyes. I flinched because I thought I knew her and I was right. The same blue eyes which were glancing at the books, it was her eyes. As she was walking forwards I was following her movements peeping through the bookshelf.
As she was walking she suddenly stopped and i stopped with her. Her shadow was like a masterpiece. She was standing and her shadow was formed on the floor when I raised my hand so that it look like as if I am touching her face. She then walked away and i was so caught up in my dreams that I lost her again. I ran towards the reception and asked the receptionist about her but she said she left.
Of course she wouldn't let me know the whereabouts of her but still I was fool to ask her. I wanted to give her the bracelet and wanted to ask her name but she was like a feather. You can admire it all you want but if you'll try to chase it, it will flew away from you. I wished that we meet again.
It was the prom night and I went there with my friends. Everyone had their own partners but I didn't intended to visit there to enjoy the night. I just went there to support my friends. My sister was also there. She asked me to come with her and i agreed to show up all dressed but I was an outcast. Some girl stood up from the crowd and asked me to join her and be her partner for the night, but before I could say anything to her, that girl caught my eye. She was at the prom night and i didn't knew that we share the same school. I never get to see her and I never noticed her.
She was wearing a white bodycon dress which suited her beautiful pale skin well. Her cheeks were red as roses and her gloss was admiring her plumped lips. Her longs hairs were set on her white dress and were following her movement as she wave them back.
She was petite but was made like an Aphrodite. I didn't wanted to miss my chance so I ran towards her following her. She stood at the balcony glancing at the moon as if she was feeling lonely. I stood behind her about 2meters of distance and asked her," excuse me!".
She turned back and looked at me and blinked twice and said,"yes?" Her voice was so soft like a bird. When she said the word my hear felt warm from inside.
"You might may not know me but....." I was standing there speechless and I pulled the bracelet out so that i won't sound awkward and raised it wrapped around my finger asking her,"is this yours?"
"Where did you find it?" She asked me as if she was glad to have it back.
"You left it behind when you were standing near the maple tree." I said. "I was searching for you since that day so that I can give it to you back."
She smiled a little as if she was amazed by my sincere behaviour. She raised her arm by making a loose small first and asked me,"if you don't mind?" She wanted me to tied that up on her wrist.
"Sure" I said and smiled and tied it on her wrist. Her skin was so smooth as I was getting goosebumps when her skin was brushed against mine. When I raised my eyes and tried to look at her she was staring at me and she flinched the moment our eyes meet.
She asked me," would you mind being my partner for tonight?" My cheeks went red when she asked me that question in her soft voice. I wasn't came to the prom for this type of intention but I was unaware that this might can happen to me.
I hesitated and my voice cracked when i agreed to her. She smiled as she was teasing me and held my arm from both of hers and said," shall we?"
I smiled back and said," sure". She smiled back and said," Cordelia....this is my name." My ears went red and my body went warmer than before and I smirked and said," I am Theodore. Nice to meet you Cordelia."
And from that day on our love kept growing by each passing day. And like this, that day of autn changed my life completely.
