Arctura is a wondrous land, consisting of many guardians and professions that allow for it to prosper. Mages uphold the mystic barrier, Natural Masters maintain the safety within the Earth, Emperors govern their part of the planet, and the gods oversee all action in the galaxy. Everybody else is doing their own jobs. At least everybody has the equal amount of impact. Nothing can go wrong!
Sounds great...right?
...Right?
...
No.
It's currently Hell.
The God of Love and The God of Hate are at war with each other and nobody even knows why.119Please respect copyright.PENANAlKH9nio7Na

The God of Love rarely fought with the other gods, and when she did, it was never intertwined with our world.
The God of Hate always fought the other gods, but yet again she never bothered us.
So what the hell?
It's up to us mortals to stop a god-wide feud.
Fuck this.
Fuck them.
I leave this to you, Jack.
You'll see me again, trust me.
You'll always be my little brother, that I endlessly care about.
Good luck, I just can't do this.- Dante Aural

11:04 PM
I got this letter 2 days ago, but only now I got the strength to read it. It was locked with a Privacy Charm, and Dante is never private.
I put the note down on my bedroom counter, my hand on my mouth.
"Wh-...What?" - I say, out loud.
"Hey-"
My mother bursts through the door.
"...Honey...Are you ok?" - She asks, hand on her chest.
I didn't even notice that I had tears in my eyes, begging to escape.
"O-Oh!" - I yell, instinctively.
I quickly put the note to my chest, but immediately hide it under my pillow. Not the best hiding place, but it should last for as long mom is in here.
"I just watched this sad video. Nothing major." - I say, maintaining eye contact.
Mom crosses her arm and folds her sweat shirt. She looks me up and down, one eyebrow raised.
"Ok, well. You're going to be an Aron in a week. You're going to have to maintain your composure a little better. Ok, sweetie?"
She moves closer to me and puts her hand on my cheek.
"...Right."
I put my head down, letting the tears fall on my bed's blanket. My long hair seems to cover it well.
"I'm not saying you can't feel sad or angry, you just need to uphold your calm stature, and it can't falter to some sad video. Your job is going to require you to give confidence to others, even when you feel none."119Please respect copyright.PENANAi2NoARDN1E

She gives me a warm smile, moving her hand to my shoulder.
"That...sounds hard." - I say, finally able to look at her.
"Oh, trust me, this shit sucks." - Mom says, sitting on my bed. "But, when we're in such a place of power, we need to at least look confident. Y'know?"
...What?
"I thought everybody was equal, what power are you talking about?"
"O-Oh!" - Mom says, jumping back. She moves further away from me, like she's terrified.
"I...shouldn't have said that."
I tilt my head to the side, my gaze still fixed on her. Not once has she ever acted like this.
She knows something.
"Don't give me that look! I'm not crazy!" - She says.
I continue to look at her, signaling her to continue.
She lets out a sigh, and pulls out her book of runes from my drawer.
"Wait, why is your book there?" - I say.
Mom would always get mad at me for putting her stuff in my room.
"Don't.Tell.Anybody." - She says, completely threatening. Her eyes are fixed on mine, almost forcing them to lock on to her and her only.
"I will only say this once."
"O-Ok..." - I say, hugging the blanket closer to me
"When The God of Empowerment told us that all positions of work would be equal, he lied his ass off." - She says, with a scary look in her eye. She seems completely unhinged, like a prisoner driven to madness.
"He was only talking about those at the top of the hierarchy. Leaders of the mages, leaders of the Natural Leaders, Emperors, the Emperors consultants, Leaders of all of the other jobs- You get my point."
She begins to pace around the room. Her angered footsteps causing the floorboards to create a loud creak upon making impact with her foot.
"Only leaders of a group are treated equal. However, those who work under these people are treated like crap. Why do you think Dad rarely comes home? He's lucky that he has an Endurance charm, because he would be dead."
"...Mom?" - I ask, slowly backing away to my bed frame
"What?!" - She asks, with slight anger. Her head whips to my direction.
"Your crimson eye..." - I say.119Please respect copyright.PENANALLo7hPOVzF

Her pupils shaped into a flame symbol, burning and red. She gasps, and then smacks her head twice, quickly. It dissipates, and returns to its circular shape.
"Oh I'm so sorry!" - She says. "Sorry, I just get so angry when I'm talking about the gods. They love lying to all of us. I know that all too well..."119Please respect copyright.PENANAs8C6rfoWyE

Mom clenches her fist, and stops looking at me.
Her watch starts to incessantly beep.
"Oh god! It's 11:15! I have to get to sleep!" - She yells.
"Haha!" - I say, teasing her.
"Oh leave me alone." - She says "You also have to sleep, you have your big test tomorrow...as if you sleep anyway but hey who am I? I'm just your mother."
She shrugs, with a smug expression.
"Hey! When I turn 17, I'm going to have to face the repercussions of not sleeping!" - I say "It's hard out here!"
"Yeah sure it is." - Mom says
Mom makes her way to the door and turns off my light.
"I would say sleep dreams, but who knows what you're doing."
She blows me a kiss, and quietly closes the door.
What is with her and the gods? She's never ever said anything like that before...
Whatever, I have more important things to worry about. What happened to Dante? I need to figure this out. Right now. After my meeting tomorrow, I'm getting to the bottom of this.119Please respect copyright.PENANAa1Zq4386j7
