"Hey Jasper, wait up!" Luke yelled, falling behind slightly. 208Please respect copyright.PENANA7Dnv6Zr90d

Jasper didn't bother waiting up; he actually went faster, eager to go into the tree line. For years, the woods behind Yerncaster High School has been plagued by fear and mystery. Fear that had become a sheet of unease across all of Yerncaster, mysteries that have almost become something of legend amongst the town folk.
It started with Ms. Daphner, the schools landscaping manager. She claims to have seen a large, hairy figure hiking slowly around the tree line, just barely visible among the beech and oaks. She said it was scared off by the bells loud ringing, but inched back to the tree line as students exited the building. Then Mr. Carlton, the football coach, claimed to see it during practice one Thursday afternoon, said it was standing eerily still, as if watching the players. Coach had practice in the gym for the rest of the season after that.
They both described it as a tallish 'thing' covered head to toe in long, shaggy hair, with long arms and a small head normally completing the description. It was said to have red eyes and a strong brow, but it's unclear if they had even gotten that close to it to know that. Some people claiming to have seen the creature say what they saw was a teenage Bigfoot, while others say it's an ape that escaped from the zoo. Though it's unlikely to be either of them.
There are so many stories, so many things to be said about this seemingly other-worldly creature. The whole town was gripped with fascination, but filled with so much uncertainty and fear that none have been brave enough to truly investigate. None except for Jasper and his three closest friends in the world: Luke, Colton, and Austin. With all of them on his side, Jasper felt brave enough to do almost anything.
"Dude, are you sure about this?" Colton asked him in a hushed tone.
Jasper stopped for a moment, beginning to rethink what they were doing. What if they got caught by the beast? It probably wouldn't kill them, right? They could take the information to the press and have this cleared up, whatever it was, once and for all.
"Not really, but I want to at least try. We could be freaking heroes, dude!" Jasper whisper-yelled back.
"If you say so, man." Colton called back, falling back with Luke and Austin. He seemed unsure, but willing to go with Jaspers slightly foolish idea.
Jasper kept hiking on, careful not to trip on any stray rocks or fallen branches. He loved the woods, found them therapeutic more often then not, even. Today was no such time, for there was a feeling of anxiety flowing through the group as the others finally caught up to him. None of them had been this far into the woods, nor had they been on the hunt for what is said to be a seven foot tall savage beast with tree splitting arms. After fifteen more minutes, Jasper stopped dead in his tracks. His friends seemed equally surprised by what was in front of them
"Is this it?" Colton whispered, walking up beside Jasper.208Please respect copyright.PENANAXneFeDIHvR

Jasper nodded, entranced by the sight ahead of them. There had been stories of people claiming to find the living space of the creature, but Jasper never actually believed it, nor did the stories truly describe the scene.
There was a shredded cot on the ground. It was made of random bits and pieces of what appeared to be clothing and old linen. Next to it was several types of animal (hopefully animal) bones, along with a old wilted, poorly folded picture and a crudely constructed fire pit.
Jasper put his hand over the pit; it was still warm. Whatever, or whoever was using this, they couldn't be far away. Looking around the site a little longer should be fine, but anything more than five minutes would be too dangerous. He searched the site for anything that might tell him the potential species of the creature. After all, it can't just be a young Bigfoot or chimp like the townspeople said, right? Jasper pocketed the folded picture, and turned to signal his friends that it was time to head out.
Suddenly, a branch snapped behind them. They all snapped around at the noise, their legs trembling at the thought of the beast that they had just starting to believe in fully being near. Two bright blue eyes illuminated the dark underbrush they now faced, the owner of the eyes hiding just out of sight.
"Screw this, man; I'm out of here!" Austin stated shakily. Colton and Luke both nodded in agreement. Austin turned to the left, then practically falling trying to get away.
"Yea, let's get out of here!" Luke and Colton followed Austin, all of them sprinted the way they came, leaving Jasper there frozen solid with fear.
The rattling in the bushes continued, Jasper becoming more tense with every rustle and crack. His heart pounded in his ears, every bit of his mind screaming at him to run, but still he stood. The leaves rustled much more violently, but soon stopped. Jasper breathed a sigh of relief. The silence filled the space, but something felt off.
Then 'it' came into view. It was tall, around six foot, and was covered in medium, shaggy hair - though not head to toe like Mr. Carlton stated when interviewed. It had bright blue eyes, both illuminating its rather human face. The creature seemed just as tensed as Jasper was, its shoulders tightly held just under its ears and arms locked to its sides. It stood rigid on its hind legs, seeming to be unsure of what to do. They both stood there for a moment, staring at one another, before Jasper tried at a step backwards.
Then, without of so much as an eye twitch or a warning, the monster ran at him.
