Amy was humming to herself, staring out the window into the night. She looked towards her door, where her bag lay dormant. Waiting for her to pick it up, and leave. Could she really do this, run away from home, from her life. Though it was a sad life in, and of itself, it was still hers. Did she really deserve anything more she wondered.
A pebble hit her window, drawing her out of her thoughts. She moved and grabbed her bag, slipping the straps over her shoulders. She opened her window, and took one last look at her room. It wasn't like she was leaving many things behind. She looked back out into the Darkness, the stars were out, and the moon was in a crescent shape.
She sat on the the windowsill and threw her legs over the side. She slowly inched herself off the window, and fell to the ground. Her boyfriend Nick caught her. He smiled at her, and sat her on the ground. She smiled at him gratefully. He took her hand and ran off, leading her into the night.
Once they were far enough away, He stopped and turned to her. He examined her, her tired eyes, She looked like she hadn't slept in days, but that was normal. She was also extremely thin, not like she got proper nourishment while she lived with her dad. Not like he noticed, or cared.
He brought her into his arms, crushing her smaller form against his own. He was gentle though, it was like she would break at any moment. She returned the gesture, and leaned her head on his chest, shutting her eyes tightly. This was the scariest thing she had ever faced.
He pulled away slightly, they stayed close, but he wanted to look at her face once again, She had a bruised eye, and her lip was cut. He frowned sadly and brought his hand to her face, cupping her cheek gently. He rubbed his thumb in circles over her black eye, being careful not to hurt her. She shut her eyes again, and her lip quivered.
A single tear came from her closed eyes. It would never happen again, She was finally safe. Finally free to fly away from her old life. Though it wasn't much she left behind. It was a terrible life for her, but it was all okay now, she had him. They were a match made in heaven, bathed in the fires of hell.
