"Father, why have I always been here? Why do I have nobody around me? I feel empty inside." The young boy said.
A plain glass with ice on the other side encased his father. He knew nothing of his father. He had been there since he was a baby. Born and raised there, created there, even when he was in the womb, this was all he knew.
He had been released from his ice capsule for 10 years, and he felt not a single bit older. He knew absolutely nothing. He learned at such an age of the horrors of the establishment he existed in. They only ever let one person out of the capsules every time another dies. He did not know at the time, but he was not going to be the one to solve the problem caused by this establishment, but his grandson does.
As he grew older, now 25, he fully understood how this place operates. He was special in some regard, and he knew it. All of his family members, most babies, had one single thing in common. a singular line seemingly engraved on their thumb. Not by their captors, but it was something that appeared at birth. However, he had 2 lines, both perpendicular. Whatever it was, his father had it as well, as his father also had two lines perpendicular, however, on his thumb, the perpendicular lines were splitting apart.
His father inherited something, and he was the unlucky bastard to have it passed onto. At the age of 13, he had already been having kids. right now, at the age of 25, they had forced him to have over 90 kids. almost all different parents. He was not a human, he had not even seen a human other than his frozen family. He knew English only because he was taught it. He couldn't read, only speak. Those 90 kids, all frozen after birth. He learned overtime that the goal of having him make kids was when he dies, there are more people in their family, which means higher probability. The people who encased them had one giant fear in mind.
If the captive family has other family on the outside, could they inherit this power?
The man was now 55, and only now, learned his name. Before he was frozen, his father apparently told someone his name, and they said it through an intercom. "Dimmen." Name, simple but odd. At his ripe old age of 55, he still knew little to nothing. He had now had over 500 kids. The ratio was a demanding one.
Before he knew it, he was now 97, soon to death, and saw his first sight of a human, dressed in riot gear, and Dimmen was unable to see the mystery mans skin, face, nothing. It wasn't even a human to him. Dimmen's last words were, "I want to just know the truth of my existence." And, before Dimmen died, he was shocked to hear a woman's voice. "Your existence is a curse in of itself." Dimmen died happy, knowing he was a mistake on existence. It seemed horrible in his head, but he knew it true, and was happy. He was happy someone at least told him that his existence was meaningless, because that left him no doubt in his head.
Right on to 28, our new successor to this power was Polyolbos. At the age of 28, having 140 kids. He was Dimmen's 293rd kid. Following in his father's footsteps, he also shortly understood the point of this place, and, also had human contact way before Dimmen, which was at 97. Poly was given the gift of a woman, a rare thing for all the captives, and the woman was named Rose.
The captors wanted to test something, so they threw in a woman to test Poly's behavioral patterns. He treated her like a queen, always gave her the better food, gave her a tour around his living quarters (which were oddly big, despite being in captivity.) The place he was held in was a box, with different rooms. It was like an insane asylum room, but with sections.
He felt a level of intimacy that beat every other generation before him except 500 years ago, the only time a woman acquired the "gift."
Now 68, he, just like his father, knew little to nothing about the place he was held in. At this point, he has had 381 kids. He had a kid, the 382nd, he named "dárek¨ Which, just like the rest were frozen. His wife, Rose, had been taken from him 10 years prior.
Fast forward to 87, on his deathbed. His wife was allowed to accompany him before he passed on. His last words being, "break the cycle Rose." And that she did.
"Get everyone down there now! An alarm is firing, and we have suspicion it has something to do with Rose." Thousands of army men, rushing to the cell where people were once captive. By the time they arrived, Poly and a baby were gone and so was rose. They searched around and found a baby with a perpendicular pattern, meaning a new successor was found, but a baby escaped, the one named Dárek.
Panic began, and a worldwide or global search for it was said to every world leader in existence. Little did they know, they would one: not find the baby and two: that baby would cause the apocalypse as we knew it.
