I ran across the camp, almost tumbling over in my excited fashion. Redkit was counting and I didn't dare think about the humiliation if I was found first. My eyes darting like little saucers, I took a full view of the camp. Skykit and Rushkit were squeezing behind the elders' den and my littermate, Flamekit was burying himself into the shadows of a juniper bush. I headed towards the medicine den and instantly, I was hit with a full tidal wave of scents. Marigold, daisy, poppy seeds and so much more. The medicine cat, Owlheart glanced at me as I hurtled in. He had a crumpled, yellow leaf in his mouth the same shade of tree sap I could see when a warrior brought in bark. "What's that?" I crinkled my nose as a ghastly smell smashed into me. 134Please respect copyright.PENANAnY6wNcG42E
"Yarrow. Well, now it's just a leaf. May I ask what you are doing?" responded Owlheart calmly, walking over to a small mound of leaves.134Please respect copyright.PENANA9YvgxbppWH
"Redkit is counting. We're playing Cat and Mouse. Can I hide here?"134Please respect copyright.PENANAV4WRTH5UYh
"Of course, Willowkit. Follow me." Owlheart began to walk away, heading towards the back of the arching cave. I followed, heart beating fast. The tom nosed some ferns to the side and revealed a large gap in the wall. I gave a small squeak of delight as Owlheart nipped me by the scruff and placed me inside.134Please respect copyright.PENANAKfelTGCd4w
"Hush now, little kit. No-one will find you here." soothed Owlheart, placing the fronds back in place and returning to his shelves. I crawled closer to the back and I was pleasantly surprised to find a tiny moss nest. Through the dark, I could just about see enough to settle inside. Rather tired at this point, my eyes slid shut.134Please respect copyright.PENANAsxRUu8gWPI

"Willowkit! Willowkit!" I squeezed my eyes open to see complete darkness. Alarmed, I jerked backwards and my head hit a stone wall. I was seconds from freaking out when I remembered where I was. Twisting around, I stared at into the night with a sniff. Cool air rushed into my nose and a starlit sky glittered overhead. I wondered how long I had spent in this little nest. "Willowkit." A soft, delicate mew cut through my thoughts. I swivelled around, searching for this mystery voice. No one was there.
