In a world of Nothing, the Hopeless God found himself. It wasn't exactly nothing, but it certainly wasn't any Something with matter. Clusters of ideas surrounded him and from those ideas, he could weave whole universes. He'd made thousands of universes with billions of worlds and on those worlds, whole populations of creatures. The only problem was that he wasn't happy with any of it. He believed his work to be great, at first. Though that feeling would quickly fade to be replaced with disillusionment. And with that disillusionment came destruction. His creations did not burn out slowly, that he could see. Neither did they wither, wilt, or decompose, that he could see. They simply faded, ceased, and disappeared in an instant. It wasn't that the creation itself was at fault for it being so dull and mediocre but his own for having made it so. The planets were never the correct shape, nor the suns the correct temperature. And don't even get him started on the people. The people were the worst. With their dead stares and weird bodies, he could never get right. But most of all, the creation just never felt right. The universes he made never made him feel that he could look upon them with any sense of satisfaction. There was something in him, a sickness, or a curse, that would always haunt him after he finished a universe. That was the cycle. In between the endless beginnings and endings of universes, he would find himself unsure of why he did any of it in the first place. He couldn't remember the exact moment he decided to create anything or for what reason he did so. For all he knew, it had been like this for as long as he'd been. However long that was, he hadn't the faintest idea. And as to why he felt the need to create, he wasn't quite sure either.260Please respect copyright.PENANA9re5v05mbc
He had just destroyed another universe when he began to notice strange things happening. Things he hadn't created would tiptoe their way through his Nothing, each dressed in silver cloaks. He could hear them speaking in hushed voices as they passed by one another but the specifics of what they were saying were lost upon him. They didn't stay long. Only taking a few moments to look around his Nothing and seeing that it was, well, Nothing, they quickly became bored and left. This would have offended him if he wasn't so bored of it himself.260Please respect copyright.PENANAxZlCXUCgxF
"Had they always been here?" He thought to himself. He could've asked them, but he didn't, mostly because he had been so terrified of seeing physical matter for the first time but also because he feared what their existence may mean for his own. Everything in him wanted to doubt their existence, but there they were. If he didn't create these travelers, then there must be someone like him out there. Though, everything in him wanted to doubt this too. He had never spoken to anyone but himself, never knew of any reaches beyond his own infinity. But just because he didn't know of anything beyond himself doesn't mean it didn't exist—260Please respect copyright.PENANA0kkdhBhHxn
"Hello up there!" One of the silver cloaked strangers finally spoke. "Would you like to hear the word of God?" Unsure of how to respond for a multitude of reasons, he said nothing in reply for many moments. For one, he'd never actually spoken any actual words before. And two, he wasn't quite sure he wanted to hear this word of God. Finally, he tried to speak. Though having no practice in actual language, his first try at a reply came out sounding something like this:260Please respect copyright.PENANAMFrTAglKbl

"I'm sorry?" The silver cloaked stranger said.260Please respect copyright.PENANAMN5UfhVfvP
H——————– He tried to clarify.260Please respect copyright.PENANAv2lgpmv8VA
"Sir, you're going to have to speak up!" The silver cloaked stranger said, enunciating every word as if the Hopeless God also had as terrible trouble hearing as he did speaking. "This ol' flesh sack is old and in dire need of a replacement, especially in the ear department!" Finally, as if it took every will of his own creation, a disembodied pair of holy lips formed through the Nothing.260Please respect copyright.PENANAXz38ltUkWG
"Hello." He said with strained effort. Around the lips, a face began to take shape. The silver cloaked stranger repeated his greeting, this time holding his hand out to shake. Having no hand to shake with, he left the stranger hanging.260Please respect copyright.PENANAh0dphAFvSJ
"Ah, not a handshake kind of god, huh?" The stranger said with a big, shiny smile. "A little unusual among us gods but that's okay." And then, as his body finally caught up with that of the stranger before him, they shook hands.260Please respect copyright.PENANARLG0qmWW3w
"What other gods do you speak of stranger?" The Hopeless God asked.260Please respect copyright.PENANARCkgNGoL0c
"Why, you're not the only god, of course," The stranger said. "There are a great many of us out there, beyond our own universes. You must only have the courage to step outside of yours." The stranger said.260Please respect copyright.PENANAW1ZxUbeSV3
"None of this makes any sense," The Hopeless God said. "Did I create you?"260Please respect copyright.PENANAzWoKSgyWpv
"Well no, sir," The stranger smiled. "That's actually what I'd like to talk to you about. You see, I'm a missionary for the church of the First God and I've come to your world to help spread his glorious message." 260Please respect copyright.PENANA9YGucceFax
"But I'm god!" The Hopeless God argued, completely confuzzled.260Please respect copyright.PENANAR6DzMuA481
The stranger looked as if he'd been expecting this back-and-forth reaction, pulling a golden pamphlet from his pocket, and handing it to him. The front of the pamphlet showcased a picture of a god like being with abnormally large muscles, a glass of wine in one hand, a sword in the other, with a bushy brown beard flowing down to his bare chest. Behind him was a large castle with towers and pillars which reached so high because if a god doesn't have a large castle of towers and pillars, how could you say they're even really a god? A sentence hovered above emblazoned in silver letters: "What to believe in when you don't believe in yourself: The First God's No-nonsense guide to navigating an existential crisis." Upon opening the pamphlet, the picture of the same god from the front of the pamphlet popped out, though this one was much more crudely drawn. Below the picture was a speech bubble which read as follows: Five Steps to Navigate your Existential Crisis. The steps were listed as follows:260Please respect copyright.PENANA0Su9akakeQ
Understanding that you're not the only powerful being in all of the universes is scary but necessary. You may also feel a slight discomfort in your chest.260Please respect copyright.PENANAZmU7ci2srR
As he read that, a body appeared, connected to his head. "Wow, he's right," he thought. "I do a feel a slight discomfort in my chest."260Please respect copyright.PENANA4HYTXqxHWG
Understanding you're not the only powerful being in all of the universes also means you're not alone.260Please respect copyright.PENANAhY2WdBNbc7
As he read that, he looked up at the stranger, himself peering back through the reflection of his shiny, white toothed smile.260Please respect copyright.PENANAhBFIOI3pv6
Understanding you're not the only powerful being in all of the universes may make you wonder "Well, who's the most powerful?" A little bit of competitiveness is also natural but just know, no one is greater than the First God.260Please respect copyright.PENANAwZz8BVmHg0
Since there is no one greater than the First God, you must know he created creation itself. And by extension, you.260Please respect copyright.PENANAyztDicZy69
If your problems are still not handled by result of reading the previous four steps, you must seek out the First God at his temple.260Please respect copyright.PENANArgufJlsC4p
The First God is not responsible for any crises that may occur on your travels to and from said temple.260Please respect copyright.PENANAsd1F0OPgwo
"Is this it?" The Hopeless God asked. "Are these all the answers I get?" The stranger nodded.260Please respect copyright.PENANAzWtQoVRwir
"If you have any more questions, you must pass through the borders of your universe and find him yourself, as I have." With that, the stranger disappeared through his Nothing as quickly as he came. The Hopeless God looked over the contents of the golden pamphlet once more and then to his Nothing. He thought of the many universes he'd created and destroyed and how meaningless all of it now seemed to be. Without looking back, he went onward to the next universe.
