After the first conflict between dragons during the ‘Hidden Period’ 130 years ago, the lands and weather became almost inhabitable for other species to live, so to keep the peace we dragons decided to establish a set of rules to prevent another catastrophe from happening, but only one of many of the rules prevailed.
“Nreth,” her voice soft and weak as her watery hands tried to touch my face, “forgive me…”
“I love you, I always will! Did you hear me, Anahita?!” I desperately held her in my arms as if it wasn’t already too late, “so please, don’t… don't die on me.”
Until now, where the only rule we had was now shattered, taking my beloved along with it.
I gasped in despair and quickly tried to hold her together while she was just smiling at me as if telling me that everything will be fine, I couldn’t just accept that, but regardless if I did or not it was already too late and she slipped through my fingers, as death took her away from me.
A tear rolled down my face while I looked down at the puddle who once was my lover. The wind became more and more aggressive, staining the blue sky with congested clouds full of light, changing the weather to a storm with me as the nucleus.
My ears twitched, alerting me that I wasn't alone there, the culprits were on the scene, still fighting in the sky unaware of the destruction they’ve made nor aware of my enormous presence.
Anger built up in me as sadness was the carbon to my fire, lighting up the storm and making my wings eager to feel the wild wind, as the only thought in my mind was to catch them, to hunt, to kill them.
“Don’t you talk about my father like that,” Laeros growled under his breath, as he used his wings to be at the same eye level of Sepheron.
“Father?” Sepheron mocked him, “Inkarus would never recognise such a failure to be their heir, no matter how strong of a black dragon you become, you will never be at my level.”
Laeros laughed, “If being at your level implies fighting other dragons in a prohibited area which puts them in disadvantage then I don’t want to be at your level,” his smile turned into a cocky smirk, “you’re a disgrace for the red dragons.”
Sepheron’s eyebrow twitched in annoyance, as he then hit Laeros with his tail and right after Sepheron roared, spitting fire at him, breaking one of his horns and damaging his scales.
“And? Who cares about this Sanctuary of Golden Decades? It’s just a piece of dirt in the middle of nothing,” he flew a little over him, showing his impotence and arrogance as Laeros was given off fume, “I’m Sapheron the son of Drahthaar, one of the strongest dragons on this continent and nobody nor even my own father will tell me what I’m or I’m not allowed to do.”
Laeros’ wings started to give out since they got caught in Sepheron’s attack, his wings were burning and Sepheron noticed this, making his lips curl up into a malicious smirk that then turned into a smile that showed his sharp teeths.
“So, you two were the ones that caused this?” I suddenly appeared behind them, as the dark clouds hid the sun making my body only visible when the strikes of lightning illuminate the sky.
They didn’t answer, my mere presence was enough to send shivers down their spine and I noticed just by the way they froze in place, even while flying.
I grabbed them by their heads, teared their wings off with the claws of my feet and threw them from the heights, watching them fall as they screamed in pain and fear, but right before they hit the ground I descended like a meteor and hit them with my lightning breath, landing on their heads.
“Nreth, that’s enough,” Desryu, the gold dragon, broke the silence as she couldn’t stand to watch this fight anymore, “I gave you permission to visit the Sanctuary of Golden Decades since your lover lived here and because of our close relationship, but I must remind you that this is my territory and I would not tolerate this kind of behavior from neither of you.”
Out of respect I let her finish talk before I smashed their heads with my weight, “I will exile myself to the human realm,” I moved my fees off their bodies and looked at her, “if the heads of the Black and Red dragons want to avenge their loss as I did with my beloved, tell them to come and find me, I’ll gladly get my claws dirty with their blood, that also includes you, my dear sister.
