"Hey, Matthew. where you at?" Ashton speaks out to him on the phone. "I'm at the Inn for a sec, ight," says Matthew. "How long you're gonna be?" says Ashton. "I don't know. I'll call you back when I'm done," says Matthew. "Okay, bye," says Ashton and hangs up the phone. He walks into the living room where his mom is watching TV. "Hey, Mom," he says. "Hi Ashton," she says and turns off the TV. "What's up?" Ashton sits down on the couch next to her and puts his arm around her. His mom leans her head on his shoulder and he hugs her tightly. They sit like that for a few minutes until Matthew calls back. "Hey, what's up? Whatcha wanted, Ashton?" says Matthew. "Just wanted to know when you'll be home?" says Ashton.
"I'll be home in a few minutes," says Matthew and hangs up the phone. His mom gets up from the couch and Ashton follows her into the kitchen. "So how do you think he's gonna take this?" says Ashton. "Take what?" says Katherine. "Me leaving for college," says Ashton. "Oh, I don't know how he'd take it," says Katherine. Ashton goes to his bedroom to take a nap, waiting for his brother to get home.
"Ashton!" yells Matthew, who runs into Ashton's bedroom, where he is napping. "Hey, bro!" he says and gives Ashton a big hug. "How was your day?" asks Matthew. "It was good," says Ashton. "Mom told me you're going to college," Matthew says. "Yeah, I'm gonna start at UVA in the fall," says Ashton. Matthew looks surprised and happy at the same time.
"That's great, Ashton!" he says. "I'm really proud of you." Matthew hugs Ashton again and they go back into the living room. Katherine is sitting on the couch watching TV. "So, when are you leaving for college?" she asks. "In a few weeks," says Ashton. "Mom, I'll call you every week to check in," he replies. Katherine nods and gets up to give her sons a hug goodbye. They walk out the door and down the driveway to their car, waving as they drive away. "So where are we headed?" says Ashton. "We're headed to see a friend of mine," says Matthew. "Cool. Where are they?" says Ashton. "Ryan lives on 63rd & Branson," says Matthew. "Is that where we're headed now," Ashton replies. "Yes, that is where we are headed," says Matthew. They drove a long way to get to Ryan's house.
