[Disclaimer: Story is fictional, but if it counts, I do subconsciously base characters on real life. For context on the following story (not that it'll be needed too much, hopefully), feel free to read my long form novel on https://editor.reedsy.com/s/Leag4xy ]
"Mind if I join you, Goldie?" came the text. "Library sounds fun."
I shook my head, as I quickly typed in a reply, my heart racing ever so slightly, but not quite sprinting just yet. "Nah, no thanks, Nicky. I'd rather go there alone."
"Ok, I'll see you at the common room then." Nick answered me almost immediately.
"Cool, see ya," I answered back, sliding the phone into my pocket. I let out a soft yawn, unable to believe that I was this tired at 6:00 in the evening.
"Sleepy already, Aurelia? Too bad, I guess you'll probably miss our date..." I heard a familiar voice shrug playfully behind me. I turned around and smiled at the familiar face standing behind me. His gray eyes were twinkling with excitement, but even Lead Carbon, a great orator among our batch at college, got nervous sometimes. For once, his wavy black hair was tamed a bit using hair gel, but to be honest it's overkill, really. Besides, he looks much better with his usual, messy hair.
"Nope. I'm wide awake," I answered, as my blue eyes emitted a faint glow. The gray hoodie seated on the bed flew upward, as I did a T-pose, telekinetically sliding the jacket on my hands.
"That helium levitation will never cease to impress me." he replied. "It defies all physics, and... just, wow!"
"Said the Carbon-14 time traveler," she mumbled, nudging his shoulder playfully.
"Anyway, ready to go?" he asked, taking on a bit more calm voice.
"Heh, Lead the way, Carbon. I can't wait to see how this one's gonna go..." she answered sarcastically, although she couldn't help but wonder if he ever heard that one before.
