The smell of blood was overwhelming.489Please respect copyright.PENANAZPgdP5weyj
Garnet Blakesley knew that this was bad news, and it meant that her job was simultaneously easier and harder. Easier because it meant the rogue she was pursuing would be busy completing its kill, and harder because it meant someone was hurt or even dead and that she would have to explain what had happened to the poor sod to their family.
It was this thought that made her speed up, racing through the night to find the one she was hunting and save their prey.
She arrived, out of breath, intending to capture the rogue, but found that they were not there. The only living thing in sight was the victim, a teenage girl lying in her blood, surrounded by massive pawprints. Garnet swore under her breath. Great, another tweenie Twilight fan to babysit.
She shook the girl gently to see if she was conscious, and got only a wince in response, so Garnet figured that she should take the poor girl back to the shelter instead of pursuing the rogue.
Gently she picked the girl up, ignoring the weak moan of protest, and began going back to the shelter in a careful silence.
The journey was fairly uneventful and Garnet reached the shelter in what seemed like no time at all.
The older woman lowered the injured girl onto a sofa and brushed the teen's hair away from the massive bite on her neck- a hickey gone wrong, Garnet thought with a snort of amusement- so she could assess the damage done.
Garnet sighed in relief. Although the girl would end up a werewolf, the bite had stopped bleeding and the damage was minimal in spite of all the blood, although the teenager would still need the attention of the group's healer, Elouan.
The girl sat up suddenly and began to speak, shaking, with wide eyes.
"Is it gone?" She asked, looking aorund the room with darting glances. Garnet gave the girl's face a proper look for the first time.
As expected, she had dirt and grime on her from lying on the forest floor, but she also had a long scar running vertically up the very side of her face that shone pearly white under the lamp in the room. She had round grey eyes and short, stubby eyelashes. All in all, the girl seemed, for now, ordinary. What a shame. The normal often couldn't handle the pain of turning.
"It's gone, don't worry. You're safe," Garnet reassured the teen.
"What was it?"
"It was a werewolf."
The girl laughed, a fake-sounding, high-pitched titter that was painful to hear.
"But werewolves aren't real!" She giggled.
"Yes we are," Garnet replied, "and soon you will, unfortunately, be one of us."
"No!" The girl exclaimed in horror, her hand flying to the bite.
"Yes. What's your name?"
The teenager hesitated and thought for a moment and then said, in a shaky voice,
"I don't remember." Oh no, Garnet thought, she really is a Mary-Sue. Garnet attempted to keep calm, breathing deeply, and soon was composed again.489Please respect copyright.PENANAivGltEZM7Y
"How far back can you remember?"489Please respect copyright.PENANAxjRjJGJNOj
"All I remember is waking up in the forest alone and trying to find shelter. Then that-that thing came out of nowhere and it b-bit me."489Please respect copyright.PENANAqPQQggsQUe
"Are you sure that's all you can remember?" Asked Garnet, needing to find out the answer so she could talk to the kid's parents.489Please respect copyright.PENANAfA8oEpINnE
The girl nodded.489Please respect copyright.PENANAPhVHXJUMe5
"Can I choose my own name?" She asked Garnet. Garnet thought for a moment.489Please respect copyright.PENANAj9EauS1M19
"Yes, you can."489Please respect copyright.PENANAc9UKNjkAAr
The girl's face lit up for a moment before contorting in pain. Her left hand, which had some writing on it, gripped her face and made several long, deep scratches down it.489Please respect copyright.PENANAc0BbUog1UT
"Ow!" She moaned.489Please respect copyright.PENANAr0Mtbk0iJA
"Are you okay?" Asked Garnet in concern.489Please respect copyright.PENANAYcyS9wFAtb
"I think so. Is it normal to feel pain when you're turning?" The teen replied, removing her hands from her face. 489Please respect copyright.PENANAZxNHqYg6D2
"Yes, but normally the power doesn't kick in just yet."489Please respect copyright.PENANAXhMnrs5Iep
"Okay. Can my name be Quinn?" Garnet wantd to facepalm because can you get any more Mary-Sue? Oh wait, I forgot, she could have named herself Shadow or Night or Dusk like a lot of others have. 489Please respect copyright.PENANAcOEkXW3Gm4
"Yes, your name can be Quinn. What about your last name?"489Please respect copyright.PENANAKZdVcE5773
"Harley!" 489Please respect copyright.PENANAAuzG09Zx5D
"No!" Garnet almost yelled. "Do you want to spend the rest of your life being bullied over how stupid your name is?"489Please respect copyright.PENANAM1TsUSqDkd
"N-no," Quinn replied. "How about Marion instead?"489Please respect copyright.PENANAOl8TPAIapb
"That's much better, no-one's going to find that stupid." Garnet nodded approvingly at the newly christened Quinn Marion and went to bed, although not before telling Quinn to stay on the sofa.489Please respect copyright.PENANAeoLXkgxv4j
