“Kinda wish there was more to life… Or at least I wish this was all a bit dang easier. Everything is so pricey and being raised so dang high. Like dude, it sucks man…”
“Tell me about it.” Oh this guy, yeah him. He’s a bit of a crazy guy with the stuff he says, I honestly have no clue what he’s on about now… I think he said something about cake… no… machines? Eh whatever he’s on about he’s on it for a minute.
“Hey, have you heard about The Patterson Scott Games??”
“The what?” Well this is new, I think. Probably some TV show.
“It’s basically a game show where you can get everything you’ve ever wanted. All you gotta do is enter and be a consistent player.” Grabbing an item from me as I scan it he unwraps it and starts eating it, he would continue to talk while I scanned.
“So yeah, house, food, rent paid, all of that. Just be in the game and play.”
“Does he have the cure for cancer?”
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he did, I mean this sounds like a steal. He’s gotta have it all, check it out sometime. But ya might wanna hurry up, Season 1 starts soon and once it starts I think he said no one is allowed on the island until mid season.” Finally, all his items are bagged.
“That’ll be thirty two fifteen.” Now for his usual back and for- Oh… Okay then.
“Uh thanks.”
“Mhm. Hey don’t miss out, this could be a one in a million chance.” Then he walked away, which kind of begged the question now that I realized it.
“Uhm sir, did you need anything?”
“Mhm how much are these bananas?”
“....Fifteen dollars.”
“WHAT?!”
That was just as much of a headache as I was expecting… I mean. What can you do about it, am I right? Prices are prices, if I could do something I'd take it back a couple hundred years or so. Back to the nickel and penny and your grandma’s best cow and pig or whatever, I wasn't paying too much attention in history class,
"Breaking News!”
“Huh??”
“We have information on a new game show coming out which is taking folks by storm, something as the person says. Has never ever done before and won't ever be done as good. I'll allow it to be further explained by one Mr. Patterson Scott.” Weird. Why is my TV always on the news? I don't even watch the news. Well, at least I can figure out what this is.
Just then he stepped up. Patterson Scott. A tall middle aged man, suited up and with black hair. A simple looking guy, honestly just another rich guy.
"Hellooooooooo! Pleasure to meet you all and to those watching, pleasure to have your attention. I’m Patterson Scott and today I'll introduce to you something phenomenal. Took a lot of hard work and harder work still BUT I'm here for you the people. I'm pretty sure you're all tired of the way life is going huh? Most people say they're tired of life, not in the slightest. You don't want to stop living, you want to stop suffering. Stop feeling like everything is always gonna suck and is always gonna just be worse. You want to stop belonging to sorrow and live! You want to live! You wish you could have it better even if it came with the hard working struggle of life? Maybe even without right? Well I've got a proposition for all of you!” Wow. He's got a mouth on him, yelling and hollering as my pops used to say. But he's got my attention. Anyway, here it comes.
“Join The Patterson Scott Games and attain the life you want and work hard to secure it, wanna own your own house? Done! Tired of paying rent? Done! The most you'll have to do is go get your groceries and hey with any luck, you'll have people coming to deliver it for you. All of this on a nice island resort!” Patterson showed it off, the TV behind showcasing the island. It was pretty beautiful, with lounges, big buildings, and greenery. You name it.
"Doesn't this place just look like paradise? I know I'd go there if I wasn't already rich ya know. The Rules are simple, you stay and you get to live life how you please. The simple goal is to reach the quota we have set for you and that's all. Every month my people will restock the supplies and everything on the island, we'll see how things go in due time. Now, stay tuned for Season 1 of The Patterson Scott Games.” Can't lie it looks tempting, very tempting. But I can't act like I'm gonna risk it all for this.
