Her footsteps echoed rapidly, her breath coming in heavy gasps. Worrying thoughts flooded her mind.
"This is serious," she thought anxiously. She accidentally bumped into someone, who grumbled in annoyance.
"Watch where you're going!"
The bald man she brushed against shot her a glare. She quickly mumbled an apology and hurried away—there was no time to deal with someone else's anger. What mattered now was reaching her destination before it was too late.
Her long black hair whipped in the night wind as she arrived at the tallest tower in Tokyo. She was almost at the top.
Scanning the area with her dark eyes, she spotted her target standing near the railing. The girl rushed toward him.
"Stop it, Shiro-Kun!"
But her shout went unheard as the black-haired man continued fiddling with something, completely focused on his goal and ignoring everything else.
Gasping for breath, she clutched her knees, trying to regain her composure. Running from her apartment to this tower had drained her energy. If only she hadn’t seen something strange from her window earlier, she might not have come here. Her instincts screamed that something terrible was about to happen.
And indeed, her fears were justified. That mad scientist was about to do something monumental tonight, putting everyone in danger.
Once her breathing steadied, she took shaky steps closer to him, keeping a sharp eye on his back.
"Hey, Shiro-Kun! Are you even listening? I said stop this!" she shouted angrily, but he continued to ignore her.
Fine. She lost her patience. Now just fifty centimeters behind him, she leaned in to see what he was doing.
Her eyes widened in shock.
His fingers deftly manipulated a super-advanced hologram displaying a massive mega project that had long been abandoned. He was so engrossed that he didn’t notice her frustration building behind him.
Anxiety swirled in her mind. What other madness would he unleash? Was launching missiles into space not enough? Now he wanted to control the largest robot in the world?
This man was truly insane!
There was no other way; this was her only option.
She nodded firmly, spreading her legs as she prepared to launch herself at him for a takedown move.
But unfortunately, she failed. Something suddenly yanked her down and seated her in a chair. In an instant, her hands and feet were shackled.
Her dark eyes widened in disbelief as a startled scream escaped her lips—something suddenly covered them.
An oxygen mask.
She struggled violently, but it was futile; she was locked in place and unable to escape.
Despair washed over her as she stared blankly at his back.
A terrible event would occur in mere moments, and she felt powerless to stop it.
Regret filled her heart; she should have been more cautious about who she was dealing with. This genius had meticulously planned everything to eliminate any obstacles—including this trap.
From where he stood, he grinned.
"Just a few minutes more," he whispered contentedly while continuing to manipulate his hologram to finalize his work.
"Done," he murmured with an unbroken grin.
The blue hologram hovered in the air while its creator turned toward his target: the girl sitting submissively with tightly shut eyes.
He stopped right in front of her, flashing his signature smirk as he slowly examined her face.
Then a mocking chuckle escaped him.
"Hehehe... Too bad, Ayame-Chan."
The girl's eyelids fluttered open, glaring at him with fury.
As if understanding the meaning behind her glare, he said, "Fufufu... Don’t worry, Ayame-Chan. I've already set the controls. The machine is entirely mine."
She bit her lip; this man before her was unbearably arrogant. Despite his elaborate plans, not everything would go smoothly. Just months ago, he nearly destroyed Japan when a missile launched into space turned back toward them. Fortunately, it exploded over the Indian Ocean before reaching Japan; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
She struggled against her restraints again, moving her hands and feet roughly. Anger consumed her heart as she realized how futile it all was; this only served to amuse him further.
"You're just wasting your energy. It's pointless to resist. I won’t let you go," he taunted while ignoring her protests.
She continued to scream curses at him, but the sound was muffled by the oxygen mask covering her mouth.
"Damn it! Let me go!"
"You’re insane! Stop this!"
"Do you want to kill us?!"
"Hurry up and release me!"
Her breath came in gasps; sweat drenched her body. Yet she persisted in small acts of defiance with whatever strength remained.
He watched with boredom; his mouth opened wide for a yawn. The girl before him truly was stubborn.
"Hey! I told you it's pointless! You're so hard-headed," he smirked mockingly.
Her limbs began to weaken; her struggles grew feeble. Her breath became ragged from exhaustion, forcing her into silence—after all, shouting proved useless now.
He smiled widely; finally, she had stopped resisting. He lowered himself slightly and gently patted her head.
"Good girl; you’re cute when you obey."
His broad smile lingered as they locked eyes—hers burning with rage while his looked down on her condescendingly.
Then he turned away and returned to his previous position. The transparent hologram displayed numbers counting downwards.
The girl hung her head in defeat; all strength drained from her body. Now she tightly shut her eyes again, hoping something would suddenly stop him.

He waited with arms crossed over his chest.

He began tapping his shoes impatiently.
8...
He started shifting restlessly.

His lips began muttering about how slow time felt.
6...
His eyes grew impatient.
5...
Increasingly anxious now...

A wide smile spread across his face.

"Almost there..."

BANG!!!
The sound of gunfire startled him awake.
He looked up at the sky where helicopter blades flickered dimly against the night darkness.
"Damn!" he cursed angrily but felt relieved when he saw that his hologram remained intact. The shot from above missed him by mere centimeters.
"You’re too late."
The hologram screen suddenly displayed zeroes as the ground shook violently beneath them.
The tower trembled; powerful vibrations coursed through it. He remained calm because he had prepared for this situation—something enveloped him: a transparent blue light like a shield protecting him from the tremors.
Meanwhile, the girl screamed in panic from within her chair—thankfully secured so that she wouldn’t be thrown off balance by the shaking below them.
A group of people inside the helicopter cursed angrily at their failure—a mission thwarted by just two seconds too late!
But the consequences were indeed dire...14Please respect copyright.PENANA1adWWNSnKd
