Under the light of the full moon, I strode vigorously toward the small alley where I would meet The Brother. My shadow chased me but I was faster, I was better. Repressing the urge to stop at this thought and laugh, I reconsidered and returned to my stride with an increased pace. Unlike The Brother, I had no hope for the cause of The Brotherhood, their fall was fast approaching. I remember what The Brother told me.
He said, "At this point, Ramius, the need for The Brotherhood motto is ever increasing. Do you recall, young Ramius?
Immediately, I replied, "Yes, Rebirthed is the conformed heart, and undone is the rebel soul."
"Yes, Ramius, that is correct, but, what is the importance of this yet?" He replied briskly.
"No sir, sorry." I mumbled shamefully.
He grunted, "Ramius boy, you should know this, the importance of a conformed heart is to never fault or have a wayward thought. If this were to occur, then I would not win this war This was where he was utterly wrong, I refused to conform to him. There was an advantage to conscious thought that he had failed to recognize. There are other people that are smarter than him, smarter than even me, "enlisted" in his corps that have the potential to win this war, but are unaware of the fact under their current state of denial and total worship of The Brother. I sought to win this war by creating my own army. Although, this would be hard to accomplish without The Brother knowing, he always knows. So I would need to eliminate him which was what I planned to do tonight. My dagger hung loosely around my waist. The blade was silver, which would harm his essence, or in laymen terms, his soul.
I stealthily approached him and he acknowledged me with a sigh.
"Now, now, is that anyway to treat your apprentice who has done nothing to do you wrong and has served you graciously all these years?" I asked playfully.
"Ramius boy, tis' but my frustrations playing out on the first plane." He said with a groan.
"After all these years and you still call me 'boy', how charming."
"And a boy you will remain, until you can face me."
"You see, that is what I wish to consult you on, Master."
"Do you wish to challenge me, Ramius?" He said in an uncertain tone.
"No, not yet all I ask is you bear with me and follow my lead this one time" I winced preparing for retaliation at my choice of words. To my surprise none came, only a hearty chuckle, and even this soon subsided.
"What do you want, boy?" He spat.
I drew a simple summoning circle and asked him to step inside, he reluctantly obeyed. I drew one around myself and uttered a few snare commands in a stream of words. By the time he realized what I had done, I was already upon him. I drew my dagger and lodged it deeply inside him and uttered another command.
When the deed had been done, I felt a slight pang of guilt for murdering my ma- no, he was never my master. I left the scene, untouched, for I knew I left no trace, and (humans) could not see anything on this plane anyway. Despite my usual grace under pressure, I felt rather jittery right now, for lack of better words. I knew I left no traces as to who committed this heinous crime, yet still the feeling ate at my essence, leaving me uncomfortable at best. I also knew that this would soon pose a larger threat with time, and I must resolve it now. Swiftly, I ran to the mouth of an alleyway and conjured a small portal to get me away from here, I couldn't stick around considering at any moment someone could find The Brother, and I am a prime suspect. I stepped through the portal, and an icy wind blew over me. I did a quick check on every plane and I found a child in a fur coat, it was a child on every plane, ughh.
"Yes, child?" I said with fake sweetness. The look on this child's face said he said he saw me step through the portal, even though I was a human to him, the portal appearing is enough to scare any human silly. I had to wipe his memory. The child ran away screaming, I put a silencing charm on him, but there was nothing I could do about him running. Damn! How could I be so careless? The child ran out of sight, I knew I couldn't catch him while in this state, so I let him run. I collapsed, worn out from my battle with The Brother and with this child, not to mention this feeling slowly eating at my essence. Perhaps, The Brother put a curse on whomever were to kill him, this was unheard of. While this was possible, I hadn't heard of such a spell, but The Brother was a very formidable enemy, so I wouldn't put it past him.
