Oviri, the people once known as 'perfect humans', for their resemblance to God. With the ability to control the energy around them, what is now commonly known as magic was formed. Even among them, there were those whose power was far above the others. They were known as Phoenixes. A Phoenix is an Oviri who has a particular kind of energy within them. It’s like a ball of magic made from Ikiru and Kohai energy, giving them incredible speed and strength, excelling in their field of magic. However, this did not last, after all, it’s a natural reaction for people to be frightened and hate those who are more powerful or different. History changed, people began to believe that magic was against the view of God, and the existence of Oviri was shunned. As a result, those with the ‘sinful’ magic was hunted, tortured and killed. For the Oviri who survived, they began to blame the Phoenixes and claimed they were a curse. They had a form that was not quite human, so they were labelled as monsters and hunted to the brink of extinction. Those who remained went into hiding, waiting for the day that they may find peace once more.
Hundreds of years later when the Eighty Year war began, and death devastated the lands of Le Alba. Wanting to protect the country, people searched for the Twenty-Two Arcana Phoenix in the hope that the warriors would have them from the horrors of war. But in this horrible world, hope couldn’t possibly exist as there are always those who seek to destroy it and things that were once planned to bring hope only brings despair. An abhorrent game began, a game of death that almost destroyed the world as we know it. Truth is most lives will end in tragedy. It’s a painful truth, but that’s just the world we live in.
