"Keep it up guys! Keep it up! Ronnie, on your left!" My soccer coach called out to me from the side of the field.
I looked up as I was kicking the ball and noticed that someone was running up to me, trying to steal the ball. I smirked softly then I quickly faked the ball to my right, making the opponent believing that I was about to kick the ball on my left, but instead, I kicked the ball to my right and I swiftly ran past him. Once I got past him, I knew I had no trouble in running up to the goal. That's when two guys ran up to me to block me and before they got the chance to, I quickly slid under them both, still having the ball roll at my feet then I quickly stood back up and continued to ran over to the opponent's goal. Then, just as time had seemed to stop, I kicked the ball right into the goal, making the goalie fall onto the soft grass below when he tried to stop the ball from going in.
When time sped back up, I heard a bunch of cheers from my teammates. They all ran over to me and patted my back and spoke all at once. All I could do was just give them a goofy grin as I rubbed the back of my sweaty neck while my chest was rising and deflating. Then, I looked between everybody and saw my coach walking over to us.
"Great job, Ronnie. Everybody else, good job. Hit the showers boys. I'll see you all tomorrow at practice." He said then turned and walked right off the field.
I watched as everybody started to walk off the field and over to the boy's locker room. I let out a soft sigh and smiled then I stared up at the beautiful sunset that was setting over Mexico before following everybody else into the locker room. Once I walked into the living room, it was really loud and it started to smell like boy sweat. I didn't really mind since I'm pretty much used to the smell. When you play sports, you have to get used to yourself and your teammates smell. That's why I'm also glad that some of my teammates take showers after our practices. I would take showers too, but I'm not fond of taking public showers. Plus, there are some guys that likes to pull tricks on you like pulling back your curtain so your naked body is shown to everybody and ect.
As I walked past a few boys that were changing their clothes, I walked over to my locker. I opened it up and started to grab my soccer bag out when I saw my crush, Alexandro Jimenez walking up to his locker which is only a couple lockers down and he opened it up. I couldn't help, but to watch him as he started to take his shirt off and showed off his glistening chest. I've had a crush on Alexandro since I was a freshman. I'm a junior now in high school. I never really had the courage to tell him how I feel because of many reasons. One of them being Alexandro rejecting me coldly and not wanting to speak to me ever again. To be honest, I'm not even sure if he knows I exist.
I watched as Alexandro started to change his clothes then I started to open up my mouth to say hi to him when all of a sudden, his friends walked over to him and he started to joke around with them. I sighed sadly and grabbed my bag from my locker. I closed the door then I started to make my way out of the boy's locker room. I walked out into the empty school hallway and walked down to the end of the hallway till I reached the entrance double doors. I stepped outside and looked up to see that my dad's truck was parked by the sidewalk.
I smiled excitedly then I ran down the steps and up to the truck. I got into it and set my bag down then greeted my dad.
"Hey, sport. How was practice?" He asked.
I shrugged. "It was alright. I made a killer goal, though. I wish you could've seen it." I said.
Then, my dad grinned. "I did. I was watching you guys practice while I was waiting for it to end."
I smiled brightly, not being able to contain my excitement.
"Really!? What do you think of the goal!?"
"I would have to say that it was mighty fine. Just mighty fine." He teased with a grin.
I smirked then sat back in my seat.
"Daaaad." I whined playfully.
"Alright. Alright. It was amazing, bud. Just amazing." He said, ruffling my hair then he put his car into drive and drove off from the school.
Dad ended up driving to his local shop where he sold snacks and other small things. He parked the car and unbuckled his seat belt.
"I have to get something really quick. I think Abigail is working today." He said then got out of the car.
I quickly unbuckled my seat belt and got out also then ran inside the store. I immediately saw Abigail standing at the counter, reading a magazine. I chuckled softly then I walked up to her.
"Hey." I greeted.
Abigail put the magazine down and smiled at me.
"Hey, you. Practice is over already?" She asked.
I nodded. "Yeah. How's the shop going?" I asked.
Abigail shrugged. "Alright. I suppose. Business is slow today, though." She said then sighed, looking bored again.
"Anyways, did you get a chance to talk to Mr. Hottie Mchottie today?" She asked, looking interested.
I sadly shook my head. Abigail is the only one who knows about my crush on Alexandro and she's the only one that knows I'm still in the closet. I don't really have the courage to tell anybody else. Especially my parents. Now that I'm pretty much a soccer star at my school, I know they have high hopes for me for the future and one of those hopes is probably them wanting me to marry a woman and have a bunch of babies who will carry on my soccer abilities.
"I wish." I mumbled. "I tried to say something, but...I don't know..."
Abigail frowned then sighed. "Don't drag it on okay? If you don't say anything at all, how will he notice you?"
I shrugged, looking down. "He doesn't really notice me even when I make an awesome goal like I did today..." I said, circling my finger into the counter.
Abigail pouted. "Awe. Don't feel beat down. I'm sure he'll notice you one day."
Suddenly, my dad walked over to us and we quickly became quiet.
"Let's go, kiddo. There's a surprise waiting for us at the house today." He said then walked out of the store.
I looked at Abigail and she looked at me. We both looked at each other with thoughts of what the surprise is at my house. Then, Abigail just shrugged. I said goodbye to her then left out of the store and hopped into my dad's truck before we both set off for home.
