"Riley, it's closing time. You have to go home now." The librarian said as she pulled my headphones from my head to gain my attention.
I glanced at the watch on my wrist to see that it was almost seven. I've been in the library for over three hours now. I always go to the library everyday after school. I mostly do a little homework and some reading. Plus, the library is the only place where i'm able to escape and let my thoughts and dreams run wild, and I always dread when I have to leave and step back into the stressful world of school and home life. Not saying that my home life is bad but...it's not the best either. You see, I currently live in a small apartment with my older brother Trent. He's the lead singer and guitarist of his garage band, Ashes to Ashes and because he's always hanging out with his band, he's barely home. He sometimes stays over at one of his friend's house and whenever he does come home, it's like, past two in the morning. Don't get me wrong, I love my brother but sometimes I just wished I had my parents around to greet me whenever I come home from school. The thing with my parents is just another story for another day.
I sighed as I felt the librarian standing over me, waiting for me to get up and leave. I slowly stood up and started to pile my school books and reading books into my black skull messenger bag. If I could, I would live in the library. I don't really watch tv anyways. Though, the trouble comes from needing to buy food and all that which is a hassle even at home. My brother and his band does gigs every now and then so that's how Trent is bringing in the money to pay rent and food. It can be quite difficult from time to time whenever we run out of money. I seriously need to start finding myself a job.
Once I shoved all my books into my bag, I hoisted it over my shoulder then pushed my chair in and turned to the librarian. The librarian is a nice and sweet woman. I think she's in her thirties. She has blonde hair that reaches her shoulders and she normally wears sweaters and long skirts whenever she comes to work. I've known her since I started coming to the library for an escape which has to be since my Freshman year of high school. I'm currently in my Junior year.
The librarian smiled warmly at me. "I'm sorry to kick you out like this." She said softly.
I shook my head and smiled back at her. "It's no problem, Ms. Fisher. Sometimes I get so engulfed in my books and homework that time flies by and I forget what time it is." I explained.
She nodded, understanding. "I was just like you when I was your age. I was so into books that I blocked out the outside world."
See, this is why I like Ms. Fisher. She gets me like nobody else does. If she wasn't in her thirties, I would totally date her. Ms. Fisher started to walk me through the library and over to the entrance door. I placed my hand on the handle of the door and stared out the window. I sighed as I could see the outside world just waiting to greet me. I could almost hear it calling to me, saying, 'Come outside, Riley. It's time to go home now.', and then I could hear myself saying, 'No! I'm never going outside! I'm never going home! I'm going to stay in the library forever!'. I started to feel my chest tighten and I bit down on my bottom lip when Ms. Fisher broke me from my thoughts. She stood right next to me and looked out the door's window.
"Well, would you look at that. The full moon is out. I heard that there is supposed to be a Lunar Eclipse tonight." She started to say.
I looked at her in confusion. "A Lunar Eclipse?" I asked.
She looked at me and nodded. "Mhm. It's just like a Solar Eclipse that you might see during the day. Except, this one is at night and you don't really need those Solar glasses to protect your eyes." She explained.
"Ah." I said as I nodded. I was sorta familiar with the Solar and Lunar Eclipses but not too much. I'm not really into scientific stuff like that.
I sighed. "I better get home." I said sadly.
"Alright. See you again tomorrow?" She asked as I pushed open the door and was quickly greeted by the fresh night air and a slight breeze.
I sucked in a deep breath and let it out then looked at Ms. Fisher and nodded. "Sure. See you tomorrow." I said then started to walk out.

The walk home from the library isn't too far but isn't too short either. It's a good enough distance that gives me time to think and pull my thoughts together. I clutched my bag's strap gently as I walked down the sidewalk. The air felt fresh and there wasn't a person in sight. It was pretty quiet and that's just what I like. I seriously wasn't looking forward to going home. For one, i'm going home to an empty apartment and two, I have to search through the kitchen for something to eat. One night, I could be eating a good old turkey sandwich and then the next night, the only thing left to eat is ramen noodles.
I sighed sadly then glanced up at the dark sky to see the full moon. I stopped in my tracks and stared at it. I had to admit, it looked really nice on this clear night. I smiled to myself as I watched the Eclipse starting. Slowly, something dark started to move in front of the moon and it kept going and going until it completely covered the moon and I could only see the small outline of the moon behind it.
"Wow. That's...amazing." I said outloud to myself. Even though i'm not into science stuff like the moon and whatever, right now, this Lunar Eclipse made the moon seem incredible. I literately can't take my eyes off of it until the wind started to pick up and it blew the tree branches around. Then, I heard a dog bark nearby. I looked around me for a second before shrugging off then looked back at the dark moon. Now, I felt myself becoming entranced with watching the moon and my body felt frozen in its place.
The wind continued to blow harder and harder and that's when I started to hear a soft male voice speaking to me.
"Riley...Close your eyes." He whispered softly into my ear.
I was able to pull my eyes away from the moon long enough to look around me to see who was speaking to me but I didn't see anybody. I shrugged the voice away and looked back at the moon when the voice called out to me again.
"Riley....Close your eyes."
I felt my eyes slowly close. Then, I started to feel what felt like hands touching me. First, the hands were on my shoulder then they slid down my arms and touched my waist.
"W-who..." I started.
"Shh. Don't speak." The voice whispered again.
"B-but..." I started again.
"Shh. Just relax."
The next thing I know, one of the hands poked me in the back and I suddenly started to feel an electrical surge coursing throughout my body.
"Ungh..." I moaned as I felt my body falling backwards but something stopped it from falling and now my body was gently being placed on the ground. Then, I passed out.
