It’s been two weeks have passed since that day
that day, my life changed forever
I never thought I would be on this train today
I never thought my destination will be Platinum City
and I certainly didn’t know I had a father who lives there
My only living relative after my mother passed away
My mother…she passed away when I wasn’t there
I didn’t even tell her “happy birthday”
I wanted to surprise her with a cake that I bought on my way back home, after I finished from college classes…
but…in front of our house, what greeted me was the sight of her body covered in white blanket…
Her lawyer came right afterwards to talk to me. Didn’t even give me the chance to grieve for her.
She prepared her will in advance; to have me deliver a letter to my father and possibly live with him at Platinum City…
“Possibly” means he has a choice, since he must be a powerful and rich man if he could afford to live the most advanced and luxurious Platinum City.
If I had the choice, I would refuse to live a man who abandoned his family, but I have none. My mother’s lawyer, James, have stressed on how I can’t live my own nor work as a minor since it is against the law in our city, Alstonite.
Unless I wanted to be a beggar, I had no choice to pay my father a visit, and hope he will be charitable enough to take me in. Even if it wasn’t possible, James said I could take it as an opportunity to search for a job there. Not anyone is allowed to enter Platinum City, as you need a Platinum card for it, and it is very expensive to make.
My mother had one, which was given to me with her will.
Just who in the world is my mother? How come she didn’t tell me anything about this before? This was confusing, and frustrating at the same time.
Why did I have to leave our house? Why did I have leave my home city?
A these thoughts started to suffocate me, I felt something hitting my knees. I looked up and saw a small girl who fell on me. It looked like she tripped due to the impact of the train changing direction. She looked at me, her face red.
“I-I’m sorry!!”
I smiled.
“It’s alright. Are you okay?”
“Y-yes!”
She reminded me of the children of my neighborhood. They were pleasant.
{HEY! HEY! YOU!}
“huh?”
I heard a strange voice, like an angry whisper of a talking snake. I looked in all directions, but saw no one talking to me.
That was weird. Was I imagining that?
“Hey, mister!”
The little girl was still here? Where are her parents?
“Do you like my Cactus?”
I noticed it for a while now. She was carrying a small pot of a cactus growing in it.
“That’s a great Cactus you have here. Did you grow it yourself?”
“Yep! Well, my mum helped a bit, but I’m the one who waters it everyday!”
“You did a great job”
I wasn’t just praising the kid. Plants are scarce in most cities, and taking care of them is not easy at all, considering how sorting out the different minerals they need is a complicated process. The girl’s parents must be either experts in this rare field, or rich enough to hire the experts.
"You can have it!"

"Please take him"
Mr. Green? Is that what she called her Cactus?
"I can't do that! Mr. Green is your friend, right?"
"He is my best friend! That's why you must take care of him!"
"Little girl, What are you talking about?"
“Julia! Oh my God!”
A woman screamed as she grabbed the little girl and hugged her tightly.
“Mummy!”
“Where in the world have you been?!”
It looked like they found her. I’m glad.
….......
Looking at this heart warming scene, I couldn’t help but feel depressed.
“I won’t be able to hug my mother like that ever again” is what I thought at the time.
….....
“Let’s go”
The mother took her daughter’s hand.
“Goodbye, Mister!”
The girl waved at me, and I waved back. Her mother turned around and glared at me. That kind of scared me. I wonder if she thought I was a kidnapper? Maybe I stared at them for a long while. That's kinda embarrassing.
Well, it didn’t matter.
*RING*
“Dear Passengers, we have arrived to Platinum City. Please maintain order as our staff members check your cards before leaving”
I grabbed my sports bag, and got my card. Then, I noticed that that Cactus was beside me! The girl was serious about giving it to me?! Doesn't she know how plants are expensive?!! I felt bad about leaving it, thus took it with me.
After they checked my card, the staff member let me pass, but not before giving me a strange look.
I’m not surprised, since I don’t look rich nor a noble to posses such a card, making me quiet suspicious. It’s strange that he didn’t question me, not that I’m not thankful for that.
Once I was in the train station, I looked into the map on my iPhone, and the address note mum left me. After determining the directions, I went on my way towards where that father of mine lives, The Royal Lab.
I wonder how will he respond when he sees his grown-up son for the first time?
