"Come on, Emily, behave for once!" I snap at her as I stare at the blank document on my computer screen.
Emily grins and sits on my dresser, legs swinging as she looks over at me. "Why should I? When do I ever behave?"
I sigh and look up at her pleadingly. "Em. Come on. You give me ideas, why can't you give me any words to go with them?"
Emily shrugged and played with her blonde (nearly yellow) hair. "You're the wordsmith, Emily. I'm just your imagination."
I glare at her. "You are not my imagination, you're a part of my imagination, there's a difference!"
"You set me up in impossible situations and scenarios, and your first idea for me was you going into a bedroom closet and designing me each time you went in like a Spore game. You modeled me after your favorite character from your favorite TV show but in your gender and slightly similar looks. We share the same name! If that's not the epitome of your imagination, I don't know what is." Emily crossed her arms.
"I've gotten better at creating characters since then!" I defend.
"And yet you keep me," Emily says, her blue eyes scrutinizing me. "Feeling a touch sentimental, Emily?"
"Oh, now you're just being ridiculous," I scoff, trying to find the right words to start our latest idea.
Emily comes over and sits next to me. "You can play with me if you don't want to write..." she tempts.
"No, I have to do this!" I protest.
Emily levels me with a look. "Your muse will remember the idea, cherie, give yourself a break."
I groan and glare at her. "Give me a sentence. Any sentence," I demand.
Emily rolls her eyes and contemplates the problem, before snapping her fingers. "Molly growled and glared at the bookshelf in front of her as if it had personally offended her."
I shrug. "Not perfect but it'll do."
Emily smiles as my fingers start to work at the keys. "See you tonight when you try to fall asleep, don't forget to play with me."
"I won't," I say distractedly as I continue to type. "Oh, and thanks," I say as Emily starts to leave.
She smiles honestly and sends me a wink. "Always," she assures.
