I remember as a young child, at the age of eleven, my family moved into a cabin in New York by a lake, nothing but the woods surrounded the place. My mother and I lived in the middle of nowhere and I never liked it.
When my mother went to work, I would be all along in this house.
For the first couple of weeks nothing happened and I was able to stay in the house by myself even at night. (I keep my lights on until my mother came home.)
However one sunny afternoon I was playing by the lake.
"Help me." A voice whispered.
I turned around to where I heard the voice but nobody was there. I frowned not liking this already. I never liked anything scary since I was younger, due to the fact I would always wake up to a old lady looking down at me, in the middle of the night in the first house I ever lived in- from the age of 1 day old to seven years old.
"Help me." The voice repeated.
I turned to the side where the voice came and nobody was there again. Looking around the river I saw nobody.
A shiver shot up my spine when a cold breeze brew through.
"I said help me!" The voice screamed.
A hand shot out the river and grabbed mines. I screamed trying to break free but the tiny hand wouldn't let me go.
I screamed and screamed.
"Mommy, mommy. Help me!" I yelled.
Salty tears falling down my eyes as I was being pulled in the water inch by inch.
"I screamed for help too, but nobody came to help me. Not even you. Nobody will help you! Just like nobody helped me!" The female voice stated.
I cried trying to hit the hand but the girl's gripe only got tighter and pulled me farther in.
"Now I won't be alone anymore."
I screamed as the water began rushing inside my mouth. The horror at how I would die was taunting me and I never even told my mother I love her this morning because I was too tried to get up.
Please! Please! Please! Somebody save me! I thought as black dots started to appear in my vision.
Just as I was taking my last breath a hand pulled me out of the water and patted my back. I coughed all the water out of my system.
Looking up at the person I realized my mother was looking at me with worried eyes.
I cried, wrapping my arms around my mother and told her. " I loved you. I love you so much."
"Why did you go into the water? You know you can't swim!"
"I was pulled into the water by a girl."
"A girl hmmm. I don't see anyone. Desiree don't make up lies."
I stayed quite knowing that if I said anything else she would think I'm lying.
"Why aren't you at work?" I asked.
"Took off early. Good thing too or you would be dead right now."
I knew she was right and I pulled away from her heading into the house.
"So you don't wish to be with Hannah either. It's not fair nobody wants to help Hannah." The voice shouted in my ear and I ran into the house scared.
Turns out a little girl named Hannah used to live in the house I used to live in, her parents weren't home the day she drowned in that river.
Still till this day I would never go back to that house or really close to a river afraid Hannah might still want me.
