"I have to warn you," Stepha chuckled, "She is most certainly unlike any other child."
"But that's why we like her! She's...unusual." Mrs. Fray stated.
"And she stood out from the other children!" Mr. Fray punched in.
"Yes, well, it's your choice," Stepha shrugged, "You said she was perfect, can't fight with that. Let's go tell her the good news then, shall we?"
Mom said that they found the 'perfect' daughter. She could keep up in school as well as sports, but could she keep up with us, he wondered...
He was always the oldest of the kids. The other two, his brothers, listened dutifully to him, he being fifteen as they were both barely ten. He was always shown with respect and now this... female has come and intruded with their way of life.
She was coming 'home' today, but he hated her already.
"Jer...aud!" one of the boys yelled from the game room downstairs. From the racket, they must've been fighting again.
"What?!" he yelled, hoping they could hear him from up in his room.
"Edward won't...Ugh!!!" he found out that it was Benjamin screaming. "LET GO!!!"
"I'm older!" Edward screamed. They must've been fighting over a game controller again.
"By like ten minutes!!" Benjamin yelled back.
He set down his homework and sighed before getting up. 'Those boys are so annoying!' He thought as he started down the stairs. "Okay, what are you two fighting about this time?!"
"Edward... won't...UGH!!!!" Benjamin kept fighting.
"Just...let...GO!!!!" That time, Jeraud couldn’t make out who spoke.
Suddenly, an explosive thud broke the argument just as he stepped on the bottom floor. Edward came flying out of the game room and up the stairs, bawling the entire time, his hands on the back of his head.
The eldest brother groaned. "BENJAMIN!!!"
Benjamin came running out of the room. His bright caramel eyes were scared and he tugged at his brown hair.
The easiest way to tell the twins apart was by simply watching them. The one running away was the older twin, Edward. The one that inflicted the pain was the younger twin, Benjamin. Other than their personality differences, they looked like clones.
"What did you do?" Jeraud asked, annoyed. This kind of stuff was practically daily.
"I-"
"No! Just stop, I’m tired of it already." He rolled my eyes. "No games for a week. Go to the attic and stay there-"
"I can't go into the attic!" Benjamin interrupted, "Remember?"
Then it hit him. The new girl was going to keep the attic as her room from now on. And that wasn't even the biggest pain. The entrance to the attic was through Jeraud’s room, of course. Stupid girl, he hated her already.
He took a breath, trying to figure out a good replacement. The attic was already chicked-out for the girl, it'd be torture for Benjamin to sit in there and not touch anything. Mom and Dad told the boys not to go in there, anyway.
"What am I going to do with you?” Jeraud mumbled to himself.
"Let me go free?" Benjamin asked with too sweet of a smile and a desperate look.
"Coat closet. Now." Jeraud ordered without a second thought.
Not daring to question his older brother’s authority, Benjamin went straight towards the coat closet under the stairs.
Before he could close the door, something swept open behind Jeraud, and Dad called out, "Welcome to your new home!"
