Two past three in the morning,

The world shrouded in stillness.

I lean from my window, smoking a cigarette,

And look upon a brand new world.

Mist curls across the landscape,

Like tendrils from a dream.

The ground below just wisps of smoke.

Coiling endlessly in every direction.

And silence.

Pure and heavy.

Sound does not exist here.

Trees stand hunched and crooked,

The silhouettes of spectres.

Leering out of endless dusk.

Occupants of this gloomy serenity.

Scattered stars pierce inky sky,

Little pinpricks of cosmic light.

But a crescent moon takes center stage,

Submerging all in eerie grey.

Crisp and thorough.

Time does not exist here.
