Two people sat alone.
It was a cool, windy night. The sound of swaying trees and the rustles of leaves faint. The vast expanse of inky blackness darkened as the night went on. The rays from the sun were long gone; replaced with thousands of white, glittering stars.
A peaceful night.
"You're going to die," one of them whispered.
Their voice seemed loud in the quiet atmosphere.
"I'm going to die," the other repeated. The pale moon shined, bestowing light onto the Earth.
"I'm sorry," he continued quietly. He's a young man, around twenty-four years old.
He was dying.
The young lady next to him shook her head, "Isn't a part of me going to die too?" she inquired, a bitter smile on her lips.
The man hummed, "When you put it like that, I guess so.”
They were silent, holding hands, staring out at the sky.
They said nothing.
There was nothing to be said.

She saw him on the hospital bed, taking his last breaths; arms carefully wrapped around him as the pale woman's tears streamed down her face.
He wiped them away. "Don't cry..." he said, trying to be reassuring. His voice betrayed him.
She hugged him over the stiff bed.
The man took a shuddering breath, "Just...promise to move on Claire."
She shook her head, "Don't say that!"
He cracked a sad smile.
With distraught, Claire heard the heart monitor make a long beep noise, signaling his death.
Her husband was dead.
Her partner in life.
Gone.
The only thing heard throughout the hospital that night were the loud cries of a heartbroken woman.

Do you remember this saying?
472Please respect copyright.PENANA63LRNjM6ex
"The word, "forever," was made for memories, not people."
You told me that quote the day before your death.
But I never got to tell you, how your happiness stays on nights like these. Sometimes I just lay there. Sometimes I cry.
Can I see you one last time?
Maybe to have one of our late-night chats. Remember those? When everything was fine; when we were fine.
Love.
Something that brings people joy; something truly beautiful.
But love gave me tears. "A broken heart," as those romantic stories would say.
Love gave me pain in return for all the good I did.
I remember saying "It's okay, I'm a strong girl. I can handle it when you're gone."
How naïve huh?
To think I'll be fine,
Perhaps I loved you too much...

Somewhere far away, stands a young woman. Her eyes hollow and her head held low.
Somewhere far away, stands a young man. His eyes bright and his head held high.
Somewhere far away, a soul is crying out. Echoing screams being heard from above.
Somewhere far away, there is a soul singing; peaceful and calm.
