Prologue
Sunlit by the last traces of summer, nature's greenery and beauty of the lake she walked on narrow path in the hospital's backyard. The amount of information she received in the last few days were too much for her mind that was already burdened with strange events. The doctors say it was only a dream, but its verity was implausible. She felt, suffered, loved. Deeply sighing, she absorbed sweet smell of roses from the nearby garden.
No, it was not a dream, but a miracle! But, has anyone ever regretted the miracle for they felt so bad after its termination? Because everything comes to an end, especially that.
She never truly perceived how many sacrifices and renunciation was needed for happiness. If not our own, then at least for another's one, for the happiness of the ones we care about even at the cost of a broken heart.
Broken? No, that word was too harsh. Cracked was the right word. Yet, she couldn't bring herself to feel fractured or sad, for it would only cast shadow on something so pure, so beautiful.
She walked down the well known path towards the forest, the same one she crossed many times in her ''dream''. Sharp air of oak-wood bit her cheeks; fallen twigs snapped and leaves hissed under her feet as they leaded her deeper into the forest. Trees as if were whispering, wind as if was showing the right way and she just walked, finally emerging on well known clearing.
That same clearing, their clearing which offers beautiful view on that house that was now converted into hospital, on that lake whose surface still glowed like diamond in the Sun. Her eyes flickered right only to find that oak tree resisted all the years and stood proudly in the same place as always.
Something shivered in her chest as she marched towards it, eyes watering with tears but once she saw what she was hoping for, soft smile filled with sorrow and relief embraced her face. On the same place as when they first appeared stood deeply carved letters.
I knew it wasn't a dream!
