One stormy day, a widowed woman in her seventies heard her doorbell ring. She went to answer it, but no one was there. As she went to close the door, she heard a loud wail. She glanced down to see a cardboard box placed a few feet away from the door. She opened the box to find a baby inside! A letter was resting in the box beside the baby. She opened it and read out loud:
Dear Stranger,697Please respect copyright.PENANAIW5nGoLzTU
Please take care of my son. He was born yesterday at precisely 9:30 A.M. I am unable to watch over him, and his father left me when he found out I was pregnant. My family is very well-known and didn't want anyone catching wind of my pregnancy, so they didn't allow me to take him to an orphanage. If that's what you decide to do, please don't give them this letter. Thank you.697Please respect copyright.PENANAed7Y3BpGJp

The woman removed the baby from the box, rocking him gently back and forth. "What should I name you, little one?" she asked once he had stopped crying. He blinked his innocent blue eyes back at her, cooing softly. "Ah, I know just the name. I'll call you...William."697Please respect copyright.PENANAWA7yzZYTSi

"Momma, Momma!" William cried out, tugging at the elderly woman's skirt.697Please respect copyright.PENANAnWFlBSuPBe
The woman chuckled, patting his head of curly brown hair. "Yes, William?"
"Go to park please?!" he begged.
"Of course, let me grab my purse and we can go," she said, staring at him fondly. The woman grabbed her bag and began her slow descent down the stairs, William running ahead of her like usual.
All of a sudden, the woman's foot slipped, and with a shout, she fell down the stairs, hitting her head on the bottom step and falling unconscious.
"Momma!" William shouted, panicked. She didn't stir. He saw the icky bad red stuff called blood was on her.
He ran into the other room, grabbing the home phone and dialing the number the woman had told him to call if anything bad happened. "911, what's your emergency?" the operator greeted.
"Momma fell down the stairs and won't wake up!" he declared, his voice shaking.
"Can you give me an address?"
The boy recited the address, walking back by the front door to keep an eye on his mother. The operator told him to stay on the line incase anything happened, and he agreed.
Soon, an emergency vehicle arrived. The paramedics loaded the elderly woman onto a board before sliding her onto the stretcher and loading her in the back of the vehicle. The paramedics were very kind to the boy and allowed him to sit in the back so he could keep and eye on his mom.
Once they arrived at the hospital, he couldn't stay with the woman anymore. One of the paramedics, whose shift had ended, sat with him and kept him entertained so he didn't worry about the injured woman.
After a while, a doctor came out and leaned down in front of him. "Hi, William, your Momma's going to be just fine. She woke up and asked to see you. Do you want to follow me and go see her?"
"Yeah!" William cheered. The doctor smiled, taking his hand and leading him into one of the rooms. The woman was laying on a bed, one of her arms in a cast and some ice on her head.
"Oh, William, you saved my life! You're my miracle!" the elderly woman exclaimed, tears in her eyes as she wrapped her uninjured arm around the boy. He beamed proudly, hugging her carefully.
The woman was required to stay overnight in case she had a concussion, which she miraculously seemed to escape. She and the boy watched movies on the television and they fell asleep, the boy nuzzled up by the woman's side, both of them dreaming sweet dreams about happy things. The end.697Please respect copyright.PENANANb5TL6sPiI
