Chapter One-January, 1981
Caleb Ware shaved his beard in the small bathroom. The dense space in the apartment wasn't to his liking; the pain his head throbbed. He opened the medicine cabinet, and grabbed a Panadol tablet. And drank some water in a glass. The pain receded; the pain was something new since he got his new personal computer for work.
The girl was asleep in the bed.
'Are you alright?', she asked him.
'Yes, for now', Caleb answered.
He brushed his teeth, and was dressed.
'Will you be here, Kathy?', he asked.
'Yes, if you want me to be here', she said.
'Yes, I'd like that', Caleb told her.
She moved forward, and kissed him.
'I need to go to work in the Hospital'.
Caleb nodded, and turned on the television.
The NY1 news reporter said: 'In New York, there's been a breakout of religious mania that hasn't been seen for two decades. Violence has caused six deaths so far. New York Mayor Edward James, condemned the rise, stating that God, and Jesus Christ, his son, wouldn't like what is happening in America these days, during the Reagan Administration...'.
Caleb sighed, and turned the television off.
Kathy was dressed in her hospital uniform.
'See you for dinner, Caleb. I love you'.
'I love you too, Kathy'.
And he watched her leave, as a darkness came to the city.
