The alleyway gleamed crimson red as Lark approached the door. He had to come here, he had no other choice. Lark just had to hope that nobody was inside here. If anybody was then Lark wouldn't hesitate to take care of them as well. Opening the door Lark sat down and silently waited. He heard the upcoming sirens nearby. But soon the sound faded, along with the police.
“Is somebody here?”
Lark froze as he heard the voice. What was this place? The voice called out once more and came closer to Lark.
“I know you're here.” 152Please respect copyright.PENANAdxQEWOEJZx
Turning on the lights Lark reached into his pocket and slammed the guy against the floor. The guy was only around sixteen while Lark was only seventeen.
“Hey! Get off me.” the guy ordered, starting to squirm.
“Why should I?” Lark demanded, his eyes narrowed. “You know where I am.”152Please respect copyright.PENANAbJIi6sfUpm
“Dude, chill. You're in my parents' restaurant. They're out of town. Do whatever. Just let me go.” the guy ordered.
Hesitating, Lark wondered if he should believe that. Sighing Lark got off the man and helped him up.
“Fine. although if you try anything I won't hesitate to end your life.” Lark pointed out.
“Cool, anyway what’s your name?” the guy asked, heading out of the current area Lark was in. “Follow me if you want something to eat.”
“My name is Lark.” Lark grunted, following the guy. He was surprised how kind this person was acting to him. After all, Lark randomly appeared in his restaurant and held a knife to his throat.
“Oh, the serial killer on the loose?” the guy blinked.
“U-uh. yeah…” Lark gulped, holding his knife just in case.
“Oh, are you here to kill me?” the guy asked, standing there.
“No, I came here to hide from the police.” Lark responded. “I’ll be on the run again soon. So don't worry I only kill if I have too.”152Please respect copyright.PENANAgIFDdGXFct
“Then why did you kill all those people?” the people responded.
“You don't know anything!” Lark snapped. “The news twists everything. They don’t care about the real stories. They use them to just get ratings, clout and money.”152Please respect copyright.PENANAfyC7mNlxZN
The guy froze then tilted his head. “Then why don't you tell me?”152Please respect copyright.PENANA2NOd4QgsHc
“You're weird.” Lark responded. “Are you trying to hold me hostage by asking me all these questions?”152Please respect copyright.PENANA1mfBStL87S
“Leave if you want.” the guy shrugged, pointing to his door.
“Eh, i'll stay at least for now.” Lark decided. He didn't want this person to tell the police anything he said. “Anyway what’s your name?”
“My name is Mellow.” Mellow replied, grabbing some food. “Anyway, do you want something to eat or not?”152Please respect copyright.PENANA4dbYDQRLkT
“Sure.” Lark replied, glancing at Mellow. Mellow had one light yellow eye while his other one was a green-ish blue. It made him look kind of funny but Lark decided to keep his mouth shut.
Mellow soon made Lark something to eat. Glancing down at his place, Lark realized it was some sort of soup.
“What’s in this?” Lark asked.
“It’s literally chef boyardee macaroni.” Mellow responded.
“Wow, so much for running a restaurant.” Lark laughed.
“I don't do the cooking. My stupid father and mother does.” Mellow replied.
“Hmh.” realizing that some food was better than none Lark quickly ate his meal and then washed it off in the sink.
“So. can you tell me why you're a serial killer now?” Mellow asked, his eyes gleaming.
“God, you're morbid.” Lark rolled his eyes.
“Says the person that literally kills people.” Mellow shot back.
“I am not a serial killer.” Lark argued. “I killed two, wait three people who deserved it.” 152Please respect copyright.PENANAh2dDsOhoLp
“What did they do?” Mellow asked. “And how did you kill them?” 152Please respect copyright.PENANA3NneKTOfhG
Sighing Lark realized that Mellow wasn't going to leave him alone if he didn't just tell him how things went.
“Alright… I'll tell you. Although you're most likely going to be kicking me out once you hear what I did.” Lark informed him.
“Nah, just tell me every gruesome detail.” Mellow urged.
“Uh, no.” Lark said. “You're getting a summary. I’m tired and I have to find another place to hide soon. Basically, I killed three people because one person decided that they were going to hurt my sister. They went overboard and almost killed her. I was furious so I attacked them. Then I ended up killing them. I am not a serial killer or bad person. I did what I thought was right.”
“Wow, it was on the news that a guy killed three people at his school just for the fun of it. They didn't go in detail about it like you did.” Mellow blinked.
“Well, did they try to blame it on violent video games?” Lark laughed. “I am not a serial killer. Killing three people isn't even that much. I didnt even mean to kill them.”
Laughing, Mellow’s expression soon changed. “I feel bad for you. You're seventeen right? You won't be in that much trouble if you turn yourself in.”152Please respect copyright.PENANAEIDffjAd8Q
“I don't want to. I don't want to be in juvie. Besides, I will turn eighteen in a few weeks. If I'm in juvie then my sister will be on the streets by herself and she’s only ten.”
“Where are your parents?” Mellow asked.
“Dead.”
“Where is your sister?” Mellow said, asking another question. “I’m sorry. I don't want to be nosy. But I want to help you.”
“I don't know. Most likely back at school.” Lark replied.
“I’ll help you.” Mellow offered.
Tilting his head, Lark blinked. “Why and how?”
“You don't deserve to rot in jail. You're a good brother. I’ll find your sister and bring her to you then I'll give you shelter. My parents are on a trip and won't be back for a while. They left me money so I'll be able to take care of you and your sister.” Mellow responded.
“Y-you would really do that?” Lark asked, his eyes wide. “You know you can get in trouble for that as well.”152Please respect copyright.PENANA3lNE3vdjcR
“I don't care.” Mellow responded.
“Alright. I'll accept that.” Lark didn't know what to say. He was speechless. Could this stranger actually be that kind?
“Here, follow me. My house is part of the restaurant technically.” Mellow informed him.
Nodding Lark padded alongside Mellow as they climbed up the stairs which revealed the house. They then went into Mellow’s room which had one bed, a computer and a few other items and objects.
“You can sleep on the bed. I’ll sleep on the floor.” Mellow offered.
“Nah, we can share it. There’s enough room.” Lark suggested.
Shrugging Mellow curled up on the side of his bed alongside Lark. closing his eyes, Lark wondered if he was making a mistake. He just walked into a random person’s house and now the person was helping him. It sounded like something right out of a movie. But Lark couldn't help but think that Mellow had good intentions.
“Good night.” Mellow yawned. “We can look for your sister in the morning.” 152Please respect copyright.PENANAAg9NOZn0KU
“Good night.” Lark replied. “Thank you so much.”152Please respect copyright.PENANApRwsdRTd7B
“No problem.”152Please respect copyright.PENANAB4PFTXmliF
Smiling Mellow fell asleep. Soon his life would be on track again.
