Ashton slams his hand onto his alarm that morning. His halfway unpacked dorm, he rubs his eyes. He is late to his first class. He scrambles to put on his uniform which was basically left on the floor since last week during class. What can I say, he was partying all weekend boys have no time to do anything else. He runs down the hall and out of his dorm area his bag flying behind him while hanging on his shoulder. He accidentally runs into someone and drops this person's coffee onto the ground. "Fuck. I'm sorry." He apologizes a few times but has no time to help the guy.

The guy had no time to react, it was his first day but he never thought he'd run into someone so quickly like that. It was a very interesting introduction to say the least. He looks back and gets a good look at the boy that just bumped into him, he smirks and then proceeds to pick up his coffee that is now pouring down the hallway and on his shoes.

Ashton made it to class and since he is kind of a favorite around here the teacher just shook her head and rolled her eyes. " first day of the new semester and Mr. Ash is late, everyone give him a round of applause." The classroom laughed and the girls whispered and giggled into each other's ears. " I am dearly sorry Mrs. Fenelli, can you ever forgive me?" He pouts and takes a seat next to his buddies which pat him on the back. "As for everyone!" The class claps and cheers. "It was a joke, I'm pulling your leg. Okay let's get started with the lesson."

They are halfway through the lesson and Ashton dozes off into space. He has OK grades but his mother would like better ones. They had two weeks off while the teachers graded their exams and let the students have time to rest up for the next coming semester. His worst class was English and that is the class he is sitting in right now it's a good thing the teachers' chill, with all the other teachers they are either complaining about work or their life or they don't care about what they're doing and can't teach. This is Ashton's only female teacher, you would think male teachers are cool but they're actually lame, Ashton thinks. In the corner of his eye he sees someone walk by in the hallway and looks to the classroom staring him up and down. It was the kid from earlier. Ashton looks confused and stares at him too but with a confused look instead of a strange gaze like the other kid is giving him. When the kid is past the door and is walking down the hallway, Ashton shakes his head and looks at his friend, "Yo what the heck is up with that guy." "Maybe he loves you." His friend Gail makes kissing noises in mocking to his friend. Ashton waves them away and continues to pay attention to the class. They laugh and continue as well.

The bell rings after three morning classes and it's lunchtime. The boys sit at the usual table and eat whilel girls come up to them and flirt with them. Ashton gets mostly all the girls and the boys always tease him about it since he always declines them. "Man you're so gay Ash..." They would say, he would just laugh and go on with his life. "Did you get that game? It's the most popular game out right now in the App Store." His friend Dustin says, he's a big gamer while Gail is the flirt which is also his best friend of the whole group. Then there's Trenton who is always keeping them silent and calm while also being a party animal secretly, lastly there's Kayden who is always hooking up with this one or that one from this grade or that department. They make fun of him for it but they also cheer him on. " That game is so lame, how can you ever play something like that, you should try getting the latest Consol which is the PS5." Dustin says. "Do you think money grows out of my ass?" Gail responds. Dustin the slaps him on the head and Gail throws his fork at him. "You guys have no chill, really." Kayden says. "There's that guy from before..." Ashton is silent and doesn't look over at the guys' table. "Aw... he sits alone you should go sit with him Ash." Kayden nudges at him and laughs while high-fiving Gail. "Oh shit he's coming over here, Ash make your hair looks nice." Ashton rolls his eyes and looks up at the kid. "Can we help you or should I say can he help you?" Gail says while the others are suppressing laughter.

He smirks and looks at Ashton. "I'm trying to promote my club by seeing people at their lunch tables". His gaze goes down towards Ash and he tilts his head, "You should join." He has is small smile on his face and only looks in Ashe's direction." Ashton feels hot and he looks back up while gripping his laptop holder. "Yeah I'll give it try." The kid smiles again but bigger this time "Good. I will see you at the tryouts then." He walks away and Ashton's face is scared and confused, he stands up and he's about to get the guys attention but he's already across the room at another table. "Tryouts?!" "Oooooo" his friends say. "Man he was totally flirting with you I'm telling you." Gail says while patting him on the shoulder. " Man can you guys stop with that already, he was just trying to get recruitment." "Yeah totally that's what he was doing while staring at you lovingly." They laugh and Ashton shakes his head while scoffing. "Whatever."

Ashen had a couple more classes after lunch in which he was failing and were behind in as well. Him and Gail were only in these classes together because Trenton and the others were either in higher up classes or had different schedules with either of their departments or clubs. Ashton couldn't stop thinking about what his tryout was and he didn't even get a chance to ask what this club is even about. All he knew is, he was feeling strangely familiar every time he looked at this kids face. A warm feeling of comfort came over him but as the bell ring for the end of the day he started to feel anxious.

Gail came up behind him and as they were walking back to their dorm he said "Good luck at your boyfriend's try outs." Ashton shook his head and held in his laughter. " I don't even know what this club is about." Ashton opens the dorm room and throws his stuff onto the ground next to his desk. " I don't know man but you might not come back single." Ashton sighs and looks down on his bed which he wishes he can just crawl into right now and forget everything that has ever happened today. Gail comes closer to him and put his hand on his shoulder, " hey you know we're joking with you right? You can use your mouth and tell us to stop and any time." Ashton shakes his head and throws his friends hand off him. " I have to go, I don't know where I'm going but I'm gonna find it." Gail is on his way out and says "Try not to get kidnapped." "I'll try not to depend on it."

Ashton fix his hair a little bit and makes his way out of his dorm and down the hall. He looks where he saw the kid earlier this morning and he thought, someone must've cleaned up that coffee already I hope he wasn't late. Ashton shakes the thoughts out of his head and heads towards where he thinks this club will take place. Just as he's about to make a right turn out of his building into the main building someone catches his arm.

Ashton gasps and turns around jerking his arm forward off of the person that takes his. "Yo what the hell-" it's the kid from earlier and from lunch. "Shouldn't you be at your clubs tryouts since you're there leader of it or whatever." The kids looks into his eyes and says "First of all, I am not the leader, yet, you have to be a senior to be a leader of a club." Ashton rolls his eyes. "And Second of all, you're going the wrong way, the club is actually to the left side of the building and if you go straight there's a door that should be the music room." "I thought you said it was YOUR club?" He laughs a little and says "Yeah. I tricked you." The kid walks away and towards where he just gave directions. Ashen doesn't even have time to process words he just follows the kid but slowly behind. He mumbles "What a weirdo."

They both eventually make it to the room, the kid holds the door open even if Ashton is a few feet behind. Ashton looks at him weird and says "I got it." The kid makes his way to his seat and there's already about 15 people here and you could see the leader and the teacher in the front of the room. "Good job Nix getting more recruits." Ashton doesn't know where to go so he just sits on the ground where everyone else is. He thinks to himself "Nix huh?, what a weird name."

" I see we have about five new faces, can those faces come up and introduce themselves." The leader of the club is a girl and the who Ashton thought was a teacher is actually a senior, is the head of the club. " We will start with... you in the back with the... hair." Ashton touches his hair and stands up and says to himself "What's wrong with my hair..."

All eyes are on him now and he looks around the room full of kids and there's a bunch of instruments also around the room. He put his hands in his pocket which apparently is a big no-no in music land because the male head says, "Hey! If you were ever performing on stage would you ever put your hands in your pocket? Do you think that's going to connect you with the audience?" Ashton stands there stunned and but eventually says "No sir." The female lead that stands besides the guy looks up at the guy and says "He's New here, go easy." The guy steps back and nods. "They must learn from the second they enter the room."

The girls giggle and look at each other and the boys shake their heads. Nix looks at him and doesn't stop looking at him with no reaction. He's just sitting there subtly and calmly. "Have you ever picked up an instrument Ashton?" The male teacher asks, his name tag read Mason while the girl's read Kira, he looks up at him in which he replies "No sir." People laugh and the guy shakes his head with his arms crossed, "Well then what the hell are you doing here?!" Ashton sighs and says "I was invited by um... him." The girls look at Nix with flirting eyes and Nix smiles. "Sorry Mason, I thought he looked like he had musical abilities." The girls giggle "You have such strong senses it's attractive!" One girl says.

"All right settle down. Mason's eyes bolt towards Ashs' "One week." Ashton looks up at him, confused. "You will be given one week to learn one instrument of your choice and you can and WILL use your vocals too. If you fail to do any of those things, don't ever show your face to this club again. As for the rest, I will see you tomorrow, I will see what you all got, and for the upperclassman, you will help me judge these auditions, Nix too since I know him and his talents. Club dismissed." Ashton sighs, "Knows him... shoot."

Ashton is all shook up from what happened and doesn't know what to do or even if he should show up ever again. He grabs his belongings that he brought and is about to leave but someone stands before him. "I can help you." Ashton sighs and thinks "Does he ever quit?"

"And why would I want your help, how do you know I need help?" Nix laughs, "Well you did say that you don't know anything about music in front of the head and the leader." Ashton is about to reply but he continues "Plus I want to help you, I don't have to, but I'm choosing to." Ashton feels his heart stop and then begin again. "Whatever, you pick the instrument then." Ashton continues to try and walk away but he is stopped each time. "What now?" Nix looks dead into his eyes and he looks sad, "You really don't remember me do you?" Ashen looks confused and looks at his face while also continuing to look him up and down. "I suppose I don't..." Nix let's him go and walks away, before he continues any further he looks back at Ash and says "Phoenix. And we will begin our lessons tomorrow." Then disappears for good.
