SCP-3637 Many waters
A group of paleontologists were excavating sites in the state of Montana, USA. These men were approximately eight kilometers east of Bynum. Scientists find the fossilized remains of a dinosaur, which is classified as a Maiasaura. This was, in fact, scp-3637. The object is a 9-meter high ancient dinosaur skeleton; it does not display any obvious differences outside of what one would expect. But when it was discovered, a loud roar erupted from the excavation site, apparently one similar to that which a living Maiasaura would give. The abnormal properties of an object only appear when a thunderstorm begins over where it lives, or at least when a thundercloud passes by. This event is referred to as 3637-Ramah by the foundation in the sky directly above the strange skeleton, the air currents intensify. The wind speeds reach upwards of 140 kilometers per hour. At the peak, a sound much like the dinosaur roar is heard again, after which salt crystals begin to be attracted to the skeleton and start to cover it from above. The radius of this effect was found to be approximately 119 meters. When the salt layer thickens to a certain degree, lightning strikes the object. This energy appears to lead to the creation of scp-3637-1, since the skeleton itself remains unharmed by the discharge. The salt crystals then begin to stick together, and the skeleton of an adult Maiasaura is recreated on the surface of the object. It then detaches from scp-3637 and awakens. afterwards, the salt dinosaur scp-3637-1 departs, the storm begins to wane, and the winds go back as they were. For a while, scp-3637-1’s behavior remained inexplicable. The entity simply wandered aimlessly, occasionally letting out a roar and digging holes in the ground. It appeared every time a thunderstorm was forming nearby, and it always behaved the same. Furthermore, the salt crystals retained their ability to dissolve in water so, by wandering around in the rain, the salt dinosaur gradually dissolved. At some point, it could no longer move and dissolved completely. After several instances, scientists realized that scp-3637-1 had a purpose. When the rain was seen damaging the body of the creature, it would dig more violently and scream louder. It is also worth noting that the rain never ceased until the salt dinosaur was completely dissolved. A single instance of scp-3637-1 has always spawned, as well. The new entity did not appear until the previous one was dissolved, however. Further studying of the object, as well as observation of 3637-Ramah revealed yet another feature of the emerging entity: it has a memory. The strange dinosaur never dug in locations where it had dug it before. It was also observed that it remembered and could identify individual foundation employees. How exactly this affected the behavior of the reptile skeleton has not been reported. Scientists theorize that perhaps scp-3637-1 is either the incarnation of the same entity, periodically taking on form, or they are actually different entities sharing a common memory. Prior to incident 3637-A, the object was kept in an enclosure. Within a one-kilometer radius from the location of the fossil skeleton, an eight-meter wall was erected, and along its perimeter guards were emplaced, standing at a distance of 200 meters from one another. In the event of an attempted containment breach, scp-3637-1 was to be fired upon with powerful water cannons. Practice runs did, however, reveal that such protective measures were, in fact, ineffective at containing the object. The paleontologists who initially discovered the anomaly were, of course, administered amnestics to wipe the memory. Nevertheless, their work was carried on by the scp foundation team. The same region was excavated about 11 kilometers from scp-3637’s containment area. In May, 2018, researchers discovered an almost perfectly preserved Maiasaura nest. And with it-dozens of fossilized eggs. Upon discovery of the nest, a thundercloud suddenly formed over scp-3637’s containment area, although the local weather was sunny. As described earlier, a salt dinosaur appeared. It attempted to break through the wall of the fence, but was stopped by water cannons. Then the creature suddenly drew the salt out of the soil from under its feet and grew to 15 meters. As it turns out, the wall and the water were useless against this monster. Once scp-3637-1 cleared the barrier, it returned to its previous 9-meter size. The skeleton hurried in the direction of the nest. Armed groups of operatives followed immediately behind it. The paleontologists were clearly unable to fight back against the enraged scp-3637-1, so they were ordered to evacuate the site and find shelter nearby. Nobody could have expected what would happen next. The salt Maiasaura arrived at the excavated nest, laid down next to the eggs, then buried its face in them. After that, the strange creature disintegrated. Scp-3637 was no longer active, regardless of what the weather conditions were. One year later, scp-3637 was declared neutralized. Paleontologists removed the fossils from the earth and had them transferred to the museum. This establishment is, of course, under foundation control, existing as one of its many fronts. While researching scp-3627’s history, I have come across two bible references on more than one occasion. I will tell them to you, because I believe that these verses truly reflect the very essence of the object. The book of Jeremiah speaks of the bitter weeping and crying of Rachel, the mother could not be comforted after the death of her children. And a verse from the Song of Solomon says that “great waters cannot extinguish love, and rivers will not flood it.” no, of course i do not think that the Rachel mentioned in the bible was a dinosaur, but there is a commonality here. Maiasauras raised their offspring in colonies. They built nests very close to each other and following the birth of their young, this place became a sort of “kindergarten”. Fossils indicate that the young lizards’ legs were still weak, so their parents brought them food until they got stronger. They had large eyes and a short, rounded muzzle. Curiously enough, it is specifically these external traits that are associated with cuteness and make parents want to take care of their offspring. So, now we connect scp-3637, scriptures, and the Maiasauras all together. At this point, you have already understood that we are speaking of maternal love.
