Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Alice. She lived in a lush forest full of colourful berries, in Witch Mania. Her house and garden stood out against other dark houses. The village was all dark black and each garden had grey and black crumbled plants scattered around the area, well other than Alice’s house. Alice looked very different from the other witches. She had long blonde hair that swished as she walked, pink pretty lips and vibrant blue eyes. There was a rumour that the witches from the Anti-Alice Team called Alice the White Witch of Witch Mania. She was never shy, even though she stood out against the raven haired witches. One day Alice was walking along the black river, all the witches near her cackled and whispered to each other. Alice could not make out what they said but she kept her head up and ignored them. After a few minutes of whispering and walking she reached her favourite spot around the river. She sat down slowly and noticed that all the witches were gone. Why was that? Slowly she came to the conclusion to her question, it was because this part of the river was a vibrant blue colour; just like her eyes, and of course other witches hated colours other than black and grey, especially blue. Quickly but quietly she took off her shoes and socks and splashed her legs into the blue water. A big smile slowly appeared on her face. Suddenly she heard a voice, a melodic voice. She turned around and saw a witch that had red hair and green eyes. Alice felt her mouth drop open. Was she seeing a witch that was alike and different. She was! The girl asked “Is anyone sitting over there?” As she pointed over to the grass next to her. Her voice took Alice out of her trance. Alice slowly shook her head and closed her mouth. The girl smiled and slightly nodded as she sat down next to Alice. There was a long silence. Suddenly Alice remembered that she hadn’t said hello! Alice cleared her throat and said “Sorry I forgot my manners, it is just so unusual to see someone who is different like me.” Then Alice added “So lets start over. Hi, my name is Alice. What is your name?”. The girl replied “Poppy”. Poppy said that she was walking and got lost in the woods. Alice felt like Poppy might be lying but she let it go. Alice offered Poppy her place for the night. Together they walked over to Alice’s house talking about their hobbies. All the other witches looked at them in wonder then they cracked up. They ignored the other witches. Soon enough everyone noticed a blue and purple portal. All the witches except Alice and Poppy casted spells that took them to their own house. Slowly everyone was safe in their house, except Alice and Poppy. Alice asked “Why did they all go?”. Poppy replied in a shaky voice “I don’t know, though I think that it might be a portal that take witches to a place they don’t like or they find scary, well not us…”. Poppy’s voice faltered. We are different… Alice finished the sentence in her mind. There was a really long silence. Finally Alice asked in a confident but shaky voice “Should we go in?” Poppy replied shakily “S-sure but I am scared.”. Alice laughed and said “Scaredy-cat Scaredy-cat Scaredy-cat” Poppy gasped and said in a shaky voice “Are you a evil spirit?”. Alice laughed and said “Nope just kidding. They both took a breath and held hands as they jumped into the portal together. There heads banged together. Alice had never felt any thing this unpleasant. Was this a dream? Alice finally opened her eyes. She saw Poppy looking around. Slowly a figure appeared, he looked like a pumpkin, actually he was a pumpkin! Alice saw Poppy looking at her with confusion in her eyes. Soon enough they both noticed the pumpkin charging towards them. The pumpkin stopped a few inches away from them, then he nodded at them and walked a few steps away. Poppy and Alice exchanged looks. Then the pumpkin began to speak in a rich voice. He glared at them as he said “Who goes there and why do you seek to come to my palace?” For the first time she took notice of her surroundings, the room was actually really fancy. Lots of patterns filled the walls, there were also paintings of other pumpkins (they were probably his ancestors). The place was gorgeous! The pumpkin said loudly “So where is the scroll?” Alice replied “What scroll I don’t have a scroll.” The pumpkin scoffed as he said in a babyish voice “What scroll” then he added in his own voice “The scroll in your pocket lady, that’s what.”. Poppy and Alice shared a confused look. Then Alice said “I don’t have a scroll, and if you want proof I can show you.” She put her hand in her left pocket and of course there was nothing inside. She showed the pumpkin her left pocket with a confident smile on her face. The pumpkin still asked to see the other pocket. Alice rolled her eyes and put her hand in her right pocket. Her eyes turned wide open. Poppy looked at her with a confused expression. Alice shook her head and saw the pumpkin who had a smirk on his face. Then she gulped and looked at the pumpkin and said quietly “You were right.”. And then she took out a scroll with a golden seal. Alice gave the scroll with shaking hands to the pumpkin. Poppy and Alice looked at each other and both of their faces were full of shock. Then the pumpkin cleared his throat. They both turned to face him and in his hands there was the open scroll…

Alice dreaded knowing what was in that scroll. Poppy had pure fear in her eyes. Then that’s when Alice noticed now she wasn’t alone. Alice had Poppy and Poppy had her company. Alice moved closer to Poppy and held Poppy’s hand. Together they could face this. Poppy looked at Alice, Alice looked at Poppy they both smiled at each other. Then Poppy turned to the pumpkin and said “Tell us what you want to.” The pumpkin nodded and replied “Poppy you are part of an…” he couldn’t finish his sentence. Could it be really bad? Then the pumpkin finished his sentence “Experiment”. Alice thought she prepared for everything but this was too bad. What will happen to Poppy? Alice turned around to face her friend. She saw Poppy’s eyes grow wide. Alice squeezed Poppy’s hand and whispered to Poppy that she will be there for Poppy no matter what. Poppy couldn’t believe it! Then the pumpkin cleared his throat and said in a gruff voice “Poppy do you have any parents?” Poppy replied “No, I do not know my parents at all other than the memory of when some random people put me in a basket when I was young and let me sail the seven seas.” Alice gasped. She told Poppy “Why did you not tell me?” Poppy replied simply “I do not like this topic.” “Ok.” Alice said then she looked at Poppy sadly as she asked “Can I ask you a question?” Poppy nodded and replied “Sure but only one question because I do not like this topic.” Alice nodded and said “I understand, you told me. Now here is my question.” She cleared her throat and said in a hoarse voice “Are you ok?” Poppy had not expected this question. Her eyes watered as she replied “I am fine now because I have a new family and that is you Alice.” It was such a sad scene as Alice and Poppy embraced each other in a big hug. They all had tears in their eyes even the pumpkin! The hug lasted for so long. Alice wanted to stay in the hug but she gently pulled away. Then they both faced the pumpkin who was wiping tears of his cheeks. Then the pumpkin looked at them and said quietly to them “My name is Rendal. Please don’t tell any one this is my name because everyone calls me The Great Pumpkin.” Poppy and Alice shared a confused look. The pumpkin must have noticed because he said “In our culture we call royalty such as me, by title not by name. That is why no one other than my family know my name. Though you do to.” Poppy and Alice nodded. Rendal nodded back at them and said “There is another portal that will take you some where else. The only clue I can give you is that the person you are going to meet will be scary but has a kind heart, so don’t be scared.” Alice nodded. Poppy and Alice were about to jump into the portal when Rendal called out to them “Oh guys you also have to give this to Barec.” “Barec?” Poppy and Alice said in union. “Oops uh he is the next person you are going to meet.” Then Rendal added “Do not tell any one that I told you his name. Ok?” “Ok.” Alice said as Poppy nodded. Then Rendal gave them the scroll and did a little salute. Poppy put the scroll in her pocket and held Alice’s hand. And with a tiny wave Poppy and Alice jumped into the portal together.

Alice this time felt like vomiting. Last time it wasn’t this bad! When she reached the other side she fell to her knees and pressed her head in between them. Her head was spinning. In the corner of her eye she could see Poppy doing the same. Alice lifted her head slowly to see millions of kings surrounding her and Poppy. One of the king’s looked at Alice and said in a gruff voice “Where is the scroll?” Alice rolled her eyes and said “I do not have the scroll-“ she was cut of short by one of the king’s. “What scroll!” The same king said. Alice growled and glared at him as she said “Can you please let me finish my sentence sir?” This time all the kings said yes in union. Alice finished her sentence “I do not have the scroll my friend Poppy has it!” “Then where is your friend Poppy?” Said the one king who always addresses to her. Alice rolled her eyes. “That girl next to me, have you gone crazy?” Alice replied. “Then wake her up you crazy lady.” The king said. “Why, wouldn’t that be rude?” Alice argued back. “I don’t care.” He said. “Well I do. For you information!” Alice glared at him. The king glared at Alice. After a long silence the king broke it by shouting “JUST WAKE HER UP!!!”. And with that Poppy’s head jerked up as she mumbled “What did I miss?” “I will tell you later.” Alice replied, still glaring at the king. “Now give me the scroll!” The king said. His glare now directing to Poppy instead of Alice. Poppy nodded and handed the scroll to the king. He opened it and his mouth fell open. As each king read the scroll their mouth fell open. What was happening? There was a really long silence. Alice was scared. She felt someone hold her hand. Who was it? It was Poppy. Poppy looked at Alice and whispered it will be ok. Alice nodded hoping Poppy was right. Then Alice broke their gaze and turned to all the kings in front of her, as she commanded them “Tell us where is the next portal.” The kings said “Find witch one of us is Barec. You have three chances. If you get them all wrong we have to fry you in a big pot. Then the kings all turned pale, like they did not want to fry Alice and Poppy. Alice could here Poppy gulp loudly. What will they do? Alice thought worriedly.

Alice looked at Poppy. She saw Poppy nod, which means they were thinking the same thing. Alice cleared her throat and said in union with Poppy “We think it is the king who was talking to us.” The kings all said “You are wrong”. Alice was definitely worrying now. Then the kings added “You can talk to each other and look around.” Alice and Poppy looked around. So far there were only kings, then they saw a scary looking person who smiled and said “It is nice to meet you.” Poppy went to Alice and said “Remember the clue that Rendal gave us?” “Yes” Alice said confused. “Well repeat it again out loud.” Poppy said in a matter of fact voice. “Ok? Rendal said, The only clue I can give you is that the person you are going to meet will be scary but has a kind heart, so don’t be scared.” Alice repeated it a few times. Then her eyes grew wide. Poppy winked at her and asked “Would you like to tell them?” Alice gulped and nodded. Then she said “I think it is the scary one.” “And why is that?” Asked the kings. Alice said “Because the pumpkin Rendal gave us a clue and the clue was The only clue I can give you is that the person you are going to meet will be scary but has a kind heart, so don’t be scared. This person here is scary looks but has a kind heart, so he is Barec.” The king said “How do you know he has a kind heart?” “Well he was kind and he was polite when he said It is nice to meet you. No one else used their manners so he is Barec.” Alice stated simply. The kings looked impressed as they said “correct.” They gestured to the portal and handed Alice the scroll. They said nicely to Poppy and Alice “When you reach the other side open the scroll.” “Why?” Asked Alice. “Because the note is for you. No more questions got it?” Poppy nodded. And with that the two friends jumped into the portal.
