Chapter 1! I hope you enjoy.
He lay still in the lonely and desolate bed, overlooked by a badly decorated purple wall, covered in ridiculous paintings by some obscure artist. The air smelled sharp with overly scented, expensive soaps. The sound of a shower being turned off, then a clang as someone reached for a towel rang through the otherwise silent house. A white door in the corner of the bedroom opened widely to reveal an en suite, disastrously arrayed in the same flashy purple as the rest of the house. Through the door stepped a short man.

He was handsome man; attractive in a "really-rather-beautiful" sort of way: brown hair, chocolate eyes, lean, muscular build, sharp jawline.
The man was obviously still drunk, and made an unnecessary amount of noise as he stumbled over to the table near the bed to grab a glass of water. As he brought the water to his lips, the glass slipped from his hand and smashed on the thinly carpeted floor.
Static Koenig woke with a start, spending an undignified few moments on scrambling ungraciously into a seated position, then staring the man before him in the eye. It took a few seconds for the man to notice him, jumping backwards through the air when he did. He regained his balance and looked back at a spectacularly bored Static. The man grinned a lopsided grin.
'Sorry, darling, but, should I know you?'
'No,' Static said, combing his hair with his fingers.
After a few seconds the man spoke again. 'Did anything happen between us last night?' He winked.
'No.' Static lied, already losing interest in the man.
'Is anything going to?'
And he was just weak enough that he would have. If he hadn't remembered Joni, he would have stayed. But he had remembered Joni, and Joni wasn't the sort of thing that you ignored.
'Scheisse!' And Static was gone.

After leaving the man's house, static had sped the entire two-and-a-half streets to The Djelle to find Joni.
The Djelle used to be an old, run-down shell of a building that was purchased by Yasha a few years back. He bought the ruins and turned it into a manipulative masterpiece: grandiose archways decorated with ornate carvings of all the seven wonders, disguising the reality of countless drunks, luckless gamblers and the infamous gang, rumored to be run by a magician, a God, and an imp. These rumors were, of course, true. Brilliantly decorated windows -the imps choice- and rich colors distracted foolish onlookers, surrounded the building in a petty serenade.
Static walked, entitled, through the brilliant arch, unconvinced by the illusion, nodded his head as greeting to the pubs lead bouncer, Alexi, and went to find Joni, succeeding near the back of the pub; spotting Joni in the middle of a game of cards. He signaled to the dealer that he would take over, looked pointedly at Joni, and took the cards. His long, slim fingers nursing the deck, Static didn't shuffle a deck of cards. He controlled it.
Joni stared disapprovingly up at Static.
'Outside, now.'
'We're in the middle of a game,' Static replied coolly.
'Static Koenig, if you don't get your stubborn arse outside now, I will rize this wretched place to the goddamned ground.'
Static feigned irritation and slammed the deck on the table. He spat out a half-hearted apology to the rest of the players and followed Joni outside.
'I think I deserve an apology, Static. right now,' Joni said.
'I am supremely unconcerned by what you think,' said Static, 'What I am concerned about is the fact you left me, bleeding out on a pavement, to go and lose another game of cards, all because I killed another pigeon. Why? Because you don't think its right. Joni if I wanted a moral compass, I would have put out an ad.'
'He was just a boy!'
'You know what? I don't care. Come speak to me when you're ready to think.'
'I am thinking! But I'm not always going to bother thinking for you.'
'You do think for me! May I remind you that I own you?' It was cruel, Static knew that. He just wanted her to stop.
Joni stepped back and looked at Static as though she was just seeing him for the first time. 'You utter bastard.'
Static was already walking away. 'Don't I know it.'
That utter, utter bastard.
