Ash didn't know what had happened. he was so confused... he just found an old match and lit it so he could bring it back to his hometown. since you know he and the other moths in his town are of course moths and need light.
with more light that would mean that his hometown would be more successful and more moths would want to live there. but when Ash grabbed the match and lit it he ended up setting himself on fire.
Ash tried to make the fire go away by rolling onto the ground. but nothing worked and instead he ended up dying. or so Ash thought.
but if he was dead then how was Ash here? Ash was lying on the ground, his eyes closed. he didn't feel dead.... so was there a chance that he was actually still alive?
but Ash couldn't help but doubt that. his whole body was set on fire after all. how could he still be alive? yet Ash was still sure that he was alive.
suddenly opening his eyes shock poured through Ash as he realized that his head was separated from his body. that made Ash get even more confused. how was he alive? for fuck's sake! his head wasn't even on his body.
but soon Ash managed to connect his body with his head once more and he just stood there, not knowing how to process all of this. he just been killed, his head was torn off. yet somehow it went back onto his body and he was alive once more. how did this happen?
glancing down at his body even more shock overcame Ash. he's now a shade of grey and his wings are slightly torn, clearly, some parts of them burned off. Ash moved slightly and he was surprised to find out that he didn't hurt that much.
Ash was still confused on why he didn't die. in his religion, if a moth didn't die after they clearly were killed then that means they were going to have to go on a quest. but why was Ash chosen out of all the other moths?
Ash was sure that there were countless other moths that were more suited for a quest instead of Ash. he wasn't as strong as some of the other moths in his hometown. maybe this was all a massive misunderstanding...
but at the same time, Ash couldn't help but see the facts. he lived despite getting "killed" so he had to go on a quest. but where was he supposed to go? and why? suddenly Ash remembered something. the eternal light.
now, the eternal light was something that was rumored to exist. there wasn't even any fact of it existing. but most if not all moths believed in it. it was a sort of hope for them. the eternal light is rumored to be on a faraway land that isn't even on earth. the island is called the blinding island.
but Ash couldn't be on a quest to find the island right? surely, he wasn't met to find that place. maybe this all was a misunderstanding. maybe he didn't "die" maybe he just got badly hurt and he was imagining things when he thought his head was detached from his body.
but even if what was happened was real maybe he was supposed to find or do something else. after all nobody even knew it the blinding island or the eternal light was real. it could just be a rumor or a tale that was told to children.
yet Ash still felt like this was something he has to do. he has to try and save his hometown right? maybe this island and light were real... he had to at least try to find it. he had to try to save his people.
feeling much better Ash then began to walk. he didn't exactly know where the blinding island was. but he just knew that he was going to have to start his travels now.
although at first, he felt worried and unsure of himself Ash felt much better. he could do this. he just had to try.
