A few days had passed since that fateful chemistry class. A whole art contest, rather.
Angelina rolled her eyes at Ashton’s remark. She wanted to make Jake pay for his insults and harassment. She wanted to show him that she was not a weak nerd who could be pushed around. She wanted to show him that she was better than him in every way, which was almost evident by her grades.
She leaned closer to Ashton and whispered, “Listen, I have an idea. Why don’t we team up and prank Jake? We can make him look like a fool in front of everyone. We can make him regret ever messing with us.”
Ashton looked at her with surprise and curiosity. He had never seen her so passionate and determined before. He wondered what had gotten into her. He also wondered if she was serious about working with him. He had always considered her as his rival, not his ally. He didn’t trust her or like her very much. But he had to admit, she had a point. Jake deserved some payback for his bullying and teasing. And maybe, just maybe, he had the slightest bit of fun working with Angelina on something (the art contest) other than competing against each other.
He hesitated for a moment, then nodded slowly. “Okay, fine. I’ll go along with your plan. But what do you have in mind?”
Angelina smiled wickedly and leaned even closer. She whispered in his ear, “I’ll tell you later. But for now, just act normal and pretend we’re still enemies. We don’t want Jake to suspect anything.”
Ashton nodded again and moved away from her. He tried to act normal and pretend he was still annoyed by her presence. He looked at the worksheet they had finished and pretended to check their answers. He muttered under his breath, “You got number six wrong, by the way.”
Angelina glared at him and snatched the worksheet from his hands. She pretended to check their answers and muttered back, “No, I didn’t. You got number nine wrong.”
They continued to bicker and argue, but secretly they were both excited and nervous about their plan. They wondered how they would pull it off, and what would happen when they did.
The stage was set for a prank war between Jake and the unlikely duo of Angelina and Ashton.
Who would win? Who would lose? Who would laugh? Who would cry?
