"Elias...?" I whispered, stepping down the staircase as I wrapped my cloak around me.
It was awfully drafty this morning, even draftier than last night.
The sun hadn't risen yet; I reckon that I slept about an hour and then woke to find Elias gone.
So—naturally—I went searching for him.
He was gone, though... I searched the entire house.
His cabin was bigger than I remember; I guess I never really searched through it before.
It had been a couple minutes of looking, but I found a small letter in his kitchen written to me:
Good morning, my princess, I hope you slept well.
I had some business to deal with in town, so I won't be back until the sun rises. Knowing you, you'd be awake before then.
I smiled.
He knew me so well.
I know I'm gone and you're probably going to be curious and try to find me, but don't.
Trust me.
Was he murdering someone? Ooh, that sounded exciting.
Yes, I'm murdering someone, the note said, making me blink. And I mean it, don't go looking for me. You might've killed before, but you've never seen me do it, and you don't want to.
Yes, I did.
No, you don't.
Seriously... it was like he could read my mind before I even thought it.
Do not leave the house, Alice, he said to me. You remember what I said, you're not allowed to leave.
So just stay there, baby, okay?
I'll be back soon.
- Elias
I just tipped my head to the side.
Rules were meant to be broken, as they said.
And I was a rule breaker.
It was stupid how he thought I would listen. Listening was not my forte.
So I just walked straight toward the front door, and blinked when I found another note pinned to the wood.
Alice, please, listen for once. Stay here.
- Elias
Nah.
I opened the door and stepped down the front porch, immediately stopping when I found another note pinned to one of his banisters:
You're going to be the death of me, I swear. Go back inside.
- Elias
Nope.
I then stepped past it, making my way toward the wall of trees.
It was alarming how well he knew me. He'd probably been watching me for longer than I'd first seen him.
He really was hooked, wasn't he?
I smiled in elation.
I remembered how to get to town from when that one-time Elias carried me here, so I had directions.
It would be a ten-minute walk, though, which was better than thirty.
I continued down the path, finding large boot-like footprints going forward toward the opening of the trees, illuminated in the moonlight.
After a grading ten-minutes of walking, I finally exited the forest walls and made my way toward the town.
I smiled and pulled my hood over my head, knowing I wouldn't be seen.
And I bolted to town.
It had been almost another ten minutes until I got to town, and I finally entered, keeping my face concealed as I stepped through the dimly lit streets.
Where was he?
I wanted to see him kill, I knew it would amaze me.
And possibly hook me even more.
I sighed and glanced left and right, nervously scanning empty alleyways and streets.
Where was he?
But I heard a scream, and I head shot in that direction.
"Killer! KILLER!" a man cried. "Run! The creature is here! THE CREATURE IS HERE!"
I smiled.
Found him.
I then started in that direction, finding a select few men running from a warehouse in town, scattering down the streets in a panic as I remained unfazed at their fear.
But I stopped and glanced right, finding the man in the mask standing in the alleyway—in front of the doors to the warehouse—and he had his face concealed with those stitched eyes.
It was glorious.
I hid in the shadows behind a house, knowing fully that my violet cloak would conceal me, so I kept myself there, setting my cheek on the wall as I watched him.
A man came running toward him with a pitchfork, screaming in anger, but Elias swept out of the way, making him stumble forward.
But the creature just caught the other end of the pitchfork, shoving it forward and making the guy scream and fall, letting go of the wood.
Elias then stepped calmly to him, catching ahold of the weapon and hovering inches over his back.
The man was sobbing.
But Elias sliced the pitchfork into his back, making him scream in pure agony before he spasmed, blood blooming under his tan clothes.
My eyes widened in fascination.
But a man suddenly came running from the right, making Elias glance over in boredom.
As the man sprang, Elias shot his hand out, catching him by the throat as he froze.
"Shhh..." Elias soothed. "We're all bound to die at some point, aren't we?"
And he squeezed his hand, making a snap! echo through the entire alleyway, and the man fell limp, eyes widened in horror.
Elias just dropped him, wiping his hand off on his pant-leg before he looked to his right, where another man came dashing toward him.
Did he just kill that man with one hand...? How strong was his grip? Was he super-human?
I knew he was daem... but I don't remember daem ever having that kind of strength.
It was a tad... nerve-racking.
But three men shot at him, all screaming, and Elias just picked up the pitchfork, flipping it in his hand before he raised it.
One man sliced through completely, making my eyes widen.
Elias turned, making the second person pierce through, and then he moved and the third slid in behind him.
A human cabob.
I covered my hand with my mouth, eyes glistening with tears.
I killed but I only used daggers... I was sadistic but the people I killed were, too... Why was he killing these people? And how did he learn how to kill in such... gruesome ways?
He suddenly turned at an instant, locking eyes with me.
I froze.
Shit.
Could he sense me here? How could he? Oh, my... this was nerve-racking.
He just glanced behind him to find another peasant running straight toward him, but he just turned and caught his throat.
Snap!
I winced, breath shuttering.
But I gazed back up to find all the people fighting him dead, either bleeding out slowly, part of a human cabob, or just instantly brainless from those wicked hands of his.
Elias then turned to glance back at me, looking slightly annoyed.
I stared, heart pounding hard against my ribcage.
He just stepped over, making my eyes widen.
But I didn't dare move.
Until he was in front of me, those black eyes reddened in anger.
He shoved me against the wall, caging me instantly. "I thought I told you to stay, Alice."
I just stared at him, wondering what emotions were turning through me. Fear? Regret? Or happiness...?
No... excitement.
He shoved me hard against the wall, his eyes still dark and menacing. "Are you afraid of me now, princess? You should be."
I stared at him for a long moment.
"Answer the question," he whispered in a dark tone. "Are you afraid of me?"
I kept staring, mustering all my strength to a small voice:
"No."
"You're lying," he noticed.
"No."
"Stop lying," he answered. "Tell me the truth, Alice."
"You killed all those people," I said then, avoiding eye contact. "Instantly... your hands snapped their necks instantly... that's just... not normal."
He tipped his head to the side. "You're afraid."
"I realized something..." I whispered, avoiding eye-contact. "At first I was uncertain about you... because I just wasn't sure. Because I just didn't understand you, but I know you're heartless... a monster. All those people were innocent, and you killed them."
His eyes darkened. "You're afraid I'm going to kill you, too?"
I just gazed up, eyes glimmering in fascination. "I love you."
"Because I won't touch you," he promised, "no hands—"
He broke off and stared down at me in shock.
"Oh, my..." I said, gripping my dress in excitement, "those hands so strong. You're something so... inhuman and perfect. It's gorgeous, amazing, heart-wrenching. I want you more now. No remorse when you kill, emotions completely shut off. So many ways you kill... with their own weapons! Oh, so hot."
I watched the anger in his eyes falter.
"You're hands..." I said then, staring down at them. "So inhuman. Super-strength. Murdered so many people. Remorseless, heartless, cold, bloody."
He caught me by the throat, and I gasped when his fingers dug into my skin. "These hands?"
I smiled up at him, knowing he wouldn't hurt me. "Those hands."
He then shoved himself against me. "You want these hands? You want these lips that have tasted blood countless times? You want these lips all over your body? Traveling down, and down, and down... to that little sore spot in between those legs."
I closed my eyes tightly, breath shuttering as I started to burn with his touch. His words traveled through me like fire, heating me in places I didn't want to think about.
He could kill me in seconds.
He wouldn't.
He could slice his teeth into my neck and murder me for my blood.
He wouldn't.
He could squeeze my throat tight enough that my spine would rupture.
He wouldn't.
Because Elias had restraint; he had control over everything he was. Something that I lacked, something that I needed.
He kept his hand around my throat and brought his lips to mine ever so gently.
But he released me after a second, watching me with those dark eyes before they looked behind me to the forest.
"It's time to go home," he glanced down at me, "come with me." He held out his hand.
I placed my hand on his, not hesitating for a second.138Please respect copyright.PENANAPcjjZ0fu5M
