Adara
"Adara. I will not repeat myself again. You're to wear the red dress, and I do not want to hear any complaints out of you. And hurry up, we have to be at the place before the guests arrive." My mother spats at me before she tells the servant to prepare my bath.
Once she leaves my room I sigh and rub my temples at the headache I've had since this morning.410Please respect copyright.PENANAVCmMFDZy0R
"I'm truly sorry Adara, I tried to convince her to let you wear the other dress, but she didn't want to hear it."410Please respect copyright.PENANAbWTuPqCtqR
"Va bene, Melanie. I'll just wear it. I honestly just want this night to end. You can go, Mel. I'll get ready myself. Make sure they don't find you so you don't get in trouble okay?"410Please respect copyright.PENANA02tJvgEmhS
"Thank you, Adara, I hope tonight gets better for you, and happy birthday again," she replies before she leaves.410Please respect copyright.PENANAJdy4xteTYB
I give her a slight smile, hoping that it made her feel less sorry for me before I turn back around to face my reflection in the mirror.
Alright. Time to get this shit over with. I peel off my clothes and drop them in the hamper on my way to the bathroom. I close the door and slowly climb into the large tub. I wondered why my parents decided to pay extra attention to me today. Even though this was a mafia ball we were going to, this isn't new, there's always some party every damn week, but they've never been this knaggy. And even though it's my twenty-first birthday, they act like today is just another normal day for them. If this is about my appearance, It doesn't matter what I wear, everyone will gawk. It doesn't matter what I do, someone will always be talking shit behind my back for me to find out from Melanie later. It's always been the same, it'll never change. No one gives a shit about me. Well maybe except for the creeps who like to imagine what's under my dress. I'll be one year closer to their near-death ages. Too bad for them if they try anything, they'll meet my M1911 pistol named Red that I'm going to be hiding under my dress. You never know what can go down. Especially with my family.
Deep in my thoughts, I submerge myself into the water, and for those few seconds, I feel calm. I always liked to imagine what my life would be like if I wasn't born into this family. If I was just a normal person. I'd be rich and powerful with a bunch of other rich and powerful women and we could live in a large house together and make the world a much better place. My peace is disturbed when I hear a knock at the door.410Please respect copyright.PENANAR1XMuhScUY
"Who is it?" I say as I lift myself up.410Please respect copyright.PENANA2fZK6z1uvd
"It's Melanie. I just wanted to say that I put your birthday present and your dress on the bed for you," she says through the door.410Please respect copyright.PENANAAcDio6ur8B
"Thank you, Mel."410Please respect copyright.PENANAMyDbHCQOzu
"Of course. Alright, I'm leaving now, if you need me you know where I'll be. And please, try not to fight anyone tonight."410Please respect copyright.PENANAldjzz3EoO0
I can almost see her trying to suppress her laughter. 410Please respect copyright.PENANAdcMlytYrwH
"Okay thanks again, and I'll try not to." I smile.410Please respect copyright.PENANAjBEGkOdRIq
"No problem."
I close my eyes for a bit before I wash my body and then get out of the tub to dry myself off.

The ballgown was a deep garnet red with an interesting asymmetric decolletage neckline. Not going to lie it did a great job of showing off my c cups but I'd rather wear the blue dress I wanted to wear originally. After putting myself in the dress, I go in front of my mirror and begin to spray my hair with water, apply a moisturizing cream, comb through it, add gel, and some oil to my scalp and begin scrunching up my hair with a towel for it to stay curly. This took about twenty-five minutes and once I finished that I begin to do my makeup, giving myself an easy red and black smokey eye look with red lips to finish.
Now that I was ready I sit on my bed and smiled as I pick up the little gift box from Melanie. She was the only person in this entire household that never forgot my birthday and she always gave me a meaningful gift. She was more of a mother figure to me than my actual birth giver. I open the box and my smile gets larger as I pick up the small red and black earrings. They were the ones I kept staring at in the store. I loved how simple they were but my mother told me they weren't expensive enough for me to wear. I put them in my ears and turn to look at them in the mirror. They were perfect.
"You got them. Even after I told you no. You ungrateful child." my mother sneers at me after she walks into my room unannounced.410Please respect copyright.PENANA2cDCy34sqI
"They were a gift. And a very meaningful one too." I spoke back.410Please respect copyright.PENANAunHbcVosFb
"They're cheap."410Please respect copyright.PENANAOaZnk1tOoM
"I don't care. To me, they're worth more than this dress."410Please respect copyright.PENANA0Zbb2RdkKE
"That dress cost more than a normal person's savings."410Please respect copyright.PENANAgOYN6SxCr6
"So? I'm probably going to wear this tonight and only tonight. What's the point of this anyway? Y'all have been harassing and pampering me all day as if I'm getting married. Why am I not allowed to spend my birthday doing something that I want to do?"410Please respect copyright.PENANA9h2Spbxz7K
"Because today is a special day. And besides, your father has to handle some things and what better way to do that than at a party. Come on sweetheart, take off the earrings. I have better ones for you."410Please respect copyright.PENANAx46nHaXwoH
"I'm not taking them off. You're already making me wear this dress." I state.410Please respect copyright.PENANANz7rCqx0gx
"Fine. Be that way."
She finally leaves my room, slamming the door behind her. My father has spoiled her rotten and now she thinks she can spoil me the same way. No chance in hell.410Please respect copyright.PENANA9boeF9Thr9
