In a maximum security prison, a guard marches towards a cell... "You're free Elroy." the guard announces as he unlocks the cell door.
Elroy, still seated on his bed, scratches the back of his head dumbfounded. "Free? What do you mean?" he asks.
"That's right, you have no idea."
Mr. Elroy gets up from the bed and walks out of his cell. The security guard's eyes narrow and his nose crinkles as the prisoner walks past him. "I'm warning you. The next time you go back into the cell I will kill you myself." says the guard as he grabs Mr. Elroy by collar. He lets go of the collar, forcefully pushing back the now freeman. Mr. Elroy stumbles and rams against the hallway wall.
Another guard guides the freeman out of the jail while Mr. Elroy stays astonished. They get out of the prison and a cold breeze hits Elroy's face. He squints his eyes as a strong white light conceals his sight.
"Ah Carter, you took your time! How are you doing buddy?" says a manly voice.
Carter Elroy opens up his eyes. A tall man, dressed in all black with a black mask is standing a few meters away from him. "Who are you?" he asks.
"That's not how you say thank you Carter. I got you out of here." whines the man with the unfamiliar face.
" Oh, thank you. Why did you do that? Do we know each other?" questioned Carter, taking a few steps forward.
"Not yet. Let me introduce myself, I'm D and I took you out because I know you were sent here wrongly."
Carter lifts his head to the sky. "That's not what people are telling me." he sighs.
"I assume you're going back to your family right?"
"How do you know about my family?"
"We all have families right? I can take you there if you want- on one condition of course."
"What's that?"
"Work for me. I'm looking for employees you see."
"You ask a prisoner to work for you? What if I attack you?"
The man snickered. "Don't worry about that. I know how to defend myself. A man is a man after all." disclosed the masked man.
"What's the job?"
"Not much. It's just a little thing of no importance."
Elroy took a step further." Get to the point."
"Destroys someone's life-"
"No thanks, I don't want to go back to jail-"
"I used my money to get you out of there-"
"That's not my problem-" interrupted Carter as he shrugged his shoulders.
"You want to see your family again, right? Work for me and you can see them again." cautioned the masked man.
"What if I refuse?"
The man chuckled and took steps forward. "You think you're so clever. If you refuse, you go back to the slammer and I go after your family-"
"You don't know my family-"
"Betty, Colton and Noah, no?"
Carter stops talking. The cold wind was slapping his face yet the man's words made him shiver.
"I see you understood." concluded the man as he neared himself towards Carter. him a paper. "Here's the address of our location-" he adds, handing a paper in Elroy's palm before turning around and walking towards a vehicle that was parked behind them.
"If you decide to play the hero and share it, I'll know. See you around, buddy!" The masked man raised his upper left arm and waved his hand.
"You said you would drive me home." exclaims Carter.
"We all have changes of heart don't we?" D. replies from a distance. He hums a sinister tune before getting into a midnight blue luxury car and driving away.
Another breeze slaps Mr. Elroy face and he starts walking towards a street hoping to find someone who can take him home.
