“Hey James?” I call, my face illuminated by the glow of my phone.
“Yeah?” He leans on the doorframe, arms crossed.
”Andy and Maddison are wanting to have us over for dinner.” I lean back in my chair and give him an undecided look.
”Hm.” He saunters in and flops on our bed. “Too bad we’re out of town.”
I grin. “Too bad we’re super busy.”
He chuckles and takes my hand, leaning us into the living room. “Too bad we don’t have time to make hot cocoa, or sit by the fireplace.”
”We’re terrible friends.” I laugh, grabbing a blanket and turning the lights down, the glow of the fire warming up the room.
He shrugs, setting down two steaming mugs of cocoa topped with marshmallows. “Maybe. But it’s not our fault we’re not home.”
We settle in on the couch, watching the snow fall, decorating the night with its frosty touch.
