Sunny was a skinny boy, soon turning seventeen, standing in front of a small juice shop with a group of other boys. He was wearing blue jeans and a fit white T-shirt. They weren't students, but they liked to hang around small institutes until all the other students, specifically girls, settle in their classrooms and won't be visible until three pm.
The market was full of people, and the hot, humid environment didn't help them. Almost everyone had covered their faces from the extreme sunlight. Despite the deadly heat, students were still coming to their classes.
Sunny saw a group of five teenage student girls who were heading to their IELTS classes. Almost every teenager seen on this central city road was a student in one of these IELTS centers everywhere in the city. A hotspot for young minds to meet new people.
The girls were waiting outside the center, which was basically a rented storage room on the top of a shop in the main market, which was known as the main market.
The five girls were laughing and playing around with each other when a white SUV drove by them, followed by a small escort of three or four open jeeps full of armed men.
It got their attention. The car stopped quite a distance away, then started reversing.
The car stopped in the middle of the busy street, yet no one complained. Everyone started to drive around it. Such was the power of a red light on top of someone's car, which meant politicians, they weren't to be messed with.
A tall, muscular man got out of the car and walked up to the group of girls.
He grabbed the hand of one of the girls, and she dropped everything to the ground, looking scared.
"What the hell are you doing! Let me go!" said the girl, twisting her arm, trying to get free.
Everyone stopped by the sudden commotion for all of three seconds, and they went back to their work as if nothing was happening, knowing what's best for them.
"Nice bangle," he remarked, observing her antique ornament, which was silver, with gold edges and the shape of a killer bee's head, a vine with small flowers cut out of it.
"It's been four days since I saw you for the first time, and I've never wanted anything more. I thought I'll never get you alone, so I'm talking now. Will you be mine?"
"Like this, with someone like you, how stupid you have to be to think a girl would be impressed by this. Let me go, NOW!"
"Do you even know what I'm offering, a good lifestyle, money and all the fancy bangles you could ever..."
"Shut up and let me go," the other girls were huddled up to, scared to back her up.
He lowered his voice, Sunny couldn't hear them, so he dashed behind the crowd to go near them
He pulled even harder, which made her scream.
When he reached near he heard the man say "...can have anything I want, whenever I want, and anyone I want."
He showed a twisted smile mixed with aggression.
"You see, the whole doing it with consent thing is supposed to be fun, and recently my doctor told me to start using protection, due to reasons, and I wanna try this with you, so you better agree. Otherwise, I don't need either of those to have my fun with you."
Sunny thought he ought to do something. But what? The mad man is threatening to rape her. He remembered that there is police station just around the corner.
He left the crowd and ran toward the police station.
There were only a few unfit, lazy looking cops. He thought they wouldn't go out for common people. There was nothing in it for them. He had to think of something fast.
"Uhm... excuse me, sir, there are a couple of girls bothering the MLA's son. You guys better go out there."
This cause them to frantically pick up their sticks, whistles, among other things, and begin to fix their uniforms frantically as they run out.
Sunny followed them. One of the cops blew a whistle to disperse some of the people gathered. "What's going on? Come on, people, clear the streets, get back," shouted the police man at various people. The Politician looked at the police and he left her hand as fast as he had grabbed it.
"See you soon."
He got back in the car, and the fleet of jeeps left.
As soon as the man turned to walk toward his car, Sunny noticed something extremely odd.
The terror on the girls face had left and changed into straight and cold expression, as soon as he turned and they just watched him leave blankly.
Were they just pretending to be afraid ?, could be, it is used in nature all the time for survival.
He went to talk to the girls. "Are you guys OK?"
"We're fine. Stay away." said the girl without even looking at him, turned around, and disappeared into an alley down the street.
"You're welcome." He said to no one.
