What does it feel like to have a father that never comes?
What does it feel like to wait in the rain for hours every year waiting for someone who never comes?640Please respect copyright.PENANACuZxsw4B20
And what does it feel like to have the love your life taken away from you?
The rain poured down the girl, auburn hair sticking close along her spine, all the way down to the small of her back. On this monumental day, she waited for her good for nothing father to decide that he wanted to show up.
So, the girl waited and waited and waited, until the rain ceased and the clouds cleared, and until the soft haze of dawn started to scrape along the horizon. And so, as her 18th birthday slowly came to an end, she watched the rosy haze start to cover the land before her. It was beautiful, much like her, even if her father wouldn't let her believe it.640Please respect copyright.PENANAq66hI1DIVw
The guy she had found would tell her every day, that her father was wrong, and that she was the most beautiful thing that he had ever seen. She liked that. And so, as the sun rose, clouds started to cover the land again, destroying the beautiful sight that she was trying to take in.640Please respect copyright.PENANA8ButohZ5ax
The rain pouring once again, she continued to wait. Her father may be a good for nothing but she tried to believe every year, that he would show eventually, and every year she was let down. And once again she waited, waited for her father to show, still holding onto the glimmer of hope that he would finally come. The food that she had brought was nearing an end, and like a godsend, he appeared. 640Please respect copyright.PENANA0fDJDgpjwP
For a second she thought that it was her father and that's when the tears of many lonely years fell past the boundary that she had set, falling into the soaking pavement adding to the ever-growing puddle.640Please respect copyright.PENANAoPWOFApVC7
But after a double check, she took back that thought. It was her man, standing at almost 6 foot, he was like a god to her, bearing an umbrella in one hand and food in the other, he had saved her once again. Running into his embrace she cried until she passed out in his arms.
He couldn't understand her sometimes, especially when it came to her father, the man was a complete drunkard and didn’t care about anything or anyone, even his only daughter who had been trying to get him to meet her here on her birthday for the past 6 years, 2 of which her saviour was apart of.640Please respect copyright.PENANApYgwGL4v0U
It was slowly tearing her apart, every year it got worse, every year he had to watch her heart get broken over and over again by the one person that was supposed to love her no matter what. And every year he had to mend it and get her back onto her feet again.640Please respect copyright.PENANAo8cL5jYIBN
And for once the thought crossed his mind, that he wouldn’t be able to fix her this time. Picking her up softly, he turned and began to walk back to their home, it wasn’t much but it was home. His eyes flicked off to the side where a shadow was moving. He thought to himself that it was just a trick of the light that was now showing through the trees. But just to be sure he looked again, and that was his fatal mistake.640Please respect copyright.PENANAJGjtsAj6sz
He had never seen this man before but he knew already just by looking at the auburn hair that this was his lover's father. The drunkard had actually shown up for once in his life.
“Who are you and why are you carrying my daughter?”
“How can you call her your daughter when you’re never there for her, and even when she calls you every year, for you to come out to see her, so you and her can work something out so that she can have you in her life?” he took a break to gather his thoughts so that he doesn’t say something he’d regret, but that didn’t work and he continued, “Where were you all these years? She’s been falling apart more and more every year that you don’t come, and this time she finally broke. I don’t think I can fix her, do you understand how that feels!? No, no you don’t, cause your never there for her!” By this time he had tears streaming down his face, he cared about her so much he couldn’t have this drunkard ruining her life any more than this.
The auburn-haired father slowly stalked his way over to the savior, reaching his hand into his pocket to grab the knife that he had hidden away. Just when he got close enough that he could see the tears dripping down the boys’ face, he charged, yanking the knife out of his pocket, he went for the man holding his daughter close, too close.640Please respect copyright.PENANA0pJs9goAUm
The knife was that of the highest quality, going right through the boy with little resistance. He pulled it out, careful not to hit his daughter in the process he stabbed the man over and over until the boy was lifeless on the drenched ground. The blood pouring from the lifeless body was ever increasing and ever getting washed away by the endless stream of water that the rain had left in its wake. It made the perfect crime scene.640Please respect copyright.PENANADp8HqHKjxe
The father, now finished with his daughter’s lover turned to her and pried her out of his lifeless arms, that were holding her close as to protect her. He lifts her up, although a bit rougher than her lover, she didn’t wake. He proceeded to take her home where he could keep her confined and safe.640Please respect copyright.PENANAlsjKn7Tje8
The beautiful auburn haired girl woke to black, she had no idea what had happened after her savior had come for her, but she knew it couldn’t be good. She heard a thud from outside that caused her to jump.
“Who’s there?” Her voice came out raspy, she’d probably been confined there for a couple of days.
“Oh, you’re finally awake I see, my beautiful child.” She recognized the voice instantly. It was her father’s.
“Where am I, why can’t I see anything and where is Liam?” She questioned, her voice shaking when she asked.
“Liam? Oh yeah, the guy that was carrying you somewhere,” there was a pause and something rustled outside, “I took care of him, I couldn’t have him taking you away from me again.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean exactly what I said, I took care of him.” At this point, the door opened and a ring was dropped down.640Please respect copyright.PENANAbUWhdxJbIG
It was the ring that she had given him as a thank you for saving her and mending her every time her father never came. It was silver and had the words ‘unwavering savior’ on the inside. She had given some thought as to what to put on the ring and thought that those words were appropriate because she knew that he’d always be there for her no matter what, as her unwavering savior.
After turning the ring around in her hand for several minutes she finally broke, the tears came like waterfalls that had just been fueled by rain and wouldn’t stop for many days. She knew that he never took that ring off, she knew that he protected it with his life and that if it was here it meant that he wasn’t anymore.
“Why did you do this dad?” She asked, the tears muffling most of what she said.
“‘Why’ you ask? Because I want to keep you safe and he was going to get in my way, that’s why I had to get rid of him before he became a problem.
“Now, I need you to stay here like a good little girl and not leave until I say so. Can you do that for me?” This wasn’t a request, it was an order.
She answered yes for she knew that if she didn’t, she would be left here to rot alone for the rest of her days.640Please respect copyright.PENANAviephvFPYH
And so the days dragged on, she didn’t know how long she had been down there but she knew that she wasn’t going to be let out. She had given up hope by the second day and had also stopped counting because she knew, it would be futile in the long run. The only thing that was keeping her sane what the thought of her Liam protecting her until the end.640Please respect copyright.PENANAb1XNVv1x2h
Turning the ring in her hand, had become a habit to make the time go by faster, and even though she was confined and couldn’t see anything, she could still hear, and all she could hear was the rain, the forever pouring and constant sound, reminds her of the night that everything changed, the night that her one and only love was taken away, and now, is forever the only thing that she can remember.
