This is going to be in a book I'm publishing, called The Poison Tree's Gardener. Yes, it is mine. I just think this is one of my best poems.

I close my eyes and smell the sea

And you are always watching me

I want to jump, feel like I’m free,

But you are always watching me.

Tell me, will you join me

In the deep ocean blue

Where the light by the stars always shine?

Ah, but the truest of truths

And why I’m always blue

Your eyes were taken away by the brine.

I watch you from up in the clouds

You never see me, in this shroud

You smile, you dance, you forget about me,

Did you not remember

That I was taken by the sea?

Sometimes your eyes lock with mine,

Sometimes I like to think

That death won’t keep us apart for long,

That you too will taste a salty drink

But alas! You never join me,

And even though I know why,

The fact remains it hurts me,

Whenever you catch my eye.

I see you dancing in the stars,

I’m smiling, can’t you see?

I’m happy looking up at you

Because you’re always watching me.

You soar above the clouds at night

I hear your sobbing clear,

And though I can’t see you during the light

I always know you’re near.

Death takes us all away,

And even though it causes strife,

By land or sea or at home with me,
