Chapter 2
Two flames appeared in the middle of the ballroom, causing everyone to go to two sides of the ballroom. The fires started as dim lights and then became bright enough to light up the whole room. The fire was in the palms of the king of Kingdom Fire, Vulcan. "Well, well, well." he said walking over to the queen. "When you invited us into your home, I thought you made a trap to kill us."
"But when I saw that you invited us as friends, I was even more angry. It was like you didn't remember what you caused in my kingdom eighteen years ago." Vulcan said.
"I didn't cause that, Vulcan. We both know that." said the queen scared.
"You are the main reason why my kingdom was attacked and all the gold was stolen from it!" he screamed into my mother's face. My father took out his sword and backed Vulcan back.
"Stay away from my wife!" he screamed as he put the tip of the sword at Vulcan's throat. Vulcan looked calm, like he knew the king wasn't going to kill him. Then he put's my father's clothes on fire. My father runs around the room until the guards pour water on him. Vulcan laughs as he watches the guards do this. I sit back and gasp. Vulcan's eyes fall upon me. His eyes looked so evil like he would kill me, it was full of hatred and revenge. I screamed and ran to the exit. I banged on the door, but it wouldn't budge.
"I have locked all the exits." Vulcan says calmly. I close my eyes and push my body to the door, hoping this was only a dream and I would wake up in my comfortable bed.
"Leave her alone!" my mother screams. Vulcan snaches me and turns around to my mother.
"What are you going to do, if I don't?" he asked devilishly. A ball of fire generates in his hand and he moves it toward my head. I cry. My mother looks frightened and alone, I have never seen her like this.
"Vulcan, this has nothing to do with her. Please, take me not her." she says in defeat.
"But that wouldn't be much fun, would it?" he asked playing. Just then, I bite his arm and get free. He screams in pain and runs to me. I bolt going back up the steps. He was about to go after to me, but a guard protects me. My father takes Vulcan by surprise by hitting him in the head with the sword. Vulcan's entire body ignites into flames, making him into a living fire ball. He runs to my father, and the guard takes me through a secret passage behind the stairs. I turn back and hear my father ask the other kingdoms for help. None of them do, they back up away from Vulcan's fury.
The guard turns and sees me watching. "You musnt see that, your majesty." the guard said making her go back into the secret exit. The secret exit was more like a secret door that lead to a tunnel under the castle to the woods. When I came out of the tunnel, she was deep in the forest.
There are black trees, snow covering the ground, and it is dark. At this moment, I wished the guard had a blanket to warm me with. I rub my arms trying to generate heat, but can't. "Where are we going?" I whined as the guard looked around. 525Please respect copyright.PENANAqqEC702fDw
"There is a path that will lead us to our destination. I just need to find it." said the guard still looking around. "As you can see, it is hard because the path is covered in snow." I let out a groan.
"What about my parents? We need to go back to save them!" I scream.
"Your parents ordered me to protect you. I can't go back to save them, and endanger my mission." said the guard calmly. I get angry and stomp my foot.
"In this instance, I am your superior! I command you to help me save my parents!" I scream and stomp my foot. Then, I hear the sound of arrows being shot. One flies towards me, I freeze. The guard jumps and tackles me to the ground. Suddenly, many arrows are being shot at us.
"Run!" screams the guard. He grabs my hand and we run. I struggle to keep up with him, I keep tripping over my dress. I turn back and see guards with the Kingdom of Fire crest on their armor charge at us. I pick up my dress and run as fast as I can. 525Please respect copyright.PENANAWNwx3yR4xo
The guard makes a left among some trees and my dress gets caught on a low branch. I struggle to pull it free. I tug as hard as I can, and tears the dress. The guard then jumps into a secret hole and I follow. "Where are we?" I ask and the guard covers my mouth. He points up, I can hear the guards walking past us.
When he was sure they were gone, the guard continued down the hole. It leads to the other end of the woods. By the time we are out of the forest, the sky is a light blue and the stars are visible. In front of us, are just miles and miles of meadow. The guard picks up stray sticks and makes a fire. I sit down and watch. As I look, I remember my mother and father risk their lives for me to live. I also remember the screams of help that my father uttered to the other kingdoms, and still they didn't. I make a promise that one day, I will make sure that the other kingdoms would pay.

The guard stayed silent during the meal of game. He just stared at the fire and ate his meat. I clear my throat and try to strike up a conversation with him. "What's the plan to protect us?" I asked. At first the guard doesn't say anything.
"To get you to safety." He finally said, still staring at the fire. I wonder if he even knew what safety was. Everyone that we could turn to were probably dead or captured.
"Where is safety exactly?" I asked. He didn't even make eye contact.
"You will know once I take you there." he said in a low voice. For a few more minutes we sat there in silence. 525Please respect copyright.PENANAh6tv6x1m2b
"You know, if I am going to trust you with my life I need to at least know your name." I say. He finally looks at me. 525Please respect copyright.PENANAAOLwcRREDr
"Ricardo." he said then looked back at the fire. Just at that moment, I knew that this maybe was too much for him. He seemed like he was just twenty-four, meaning he was inexperience. Who at twenty-four had to protect a princess from a angry kingdom single handedly?
"I am sorry for dragging you into this." I said quietly. Ricardo looked at me, with a hint of sincerity in his eyes.
"It's fine. If I couldn't handle it, I would have left by now." Ricardo said.
"I will do whatever I can to protect ourselves." I say.
"If you want to help, you first need some training." he said trying to hold back a smile.
