"Riley! Wake up!" My brother shouted from outside my bedroom door.
I quickly sat up right in my bed. I sat there, trying to gather my thoughts. Then, I looked around my room.
"How did I end up here?" I asked outloud to no one in particular.
I remembered walking home last night and stopping to see the Lunar Eclipse but then a voice called out to me and I passed out. That's pretty much all I can remember. I'm not sure who brought me home or if I ended up sleepwalking home instead.
I shook my head. "No. It must have been a dream." I said to myself then started to rub my sleepy eyes.
"Riley! Are you awake?!" My brother shouted.
I sighed and shouted back. "Yeah! I'm awake!"
Well, at least my brother is here to send me off to school. I glanced at my digital clock on my nightstand table to see it was after eight. Suddenly, my eyes widen.
"Oh shit! I'm going to be late for school!" I shouted then pulled my bed covers off of me and jumped out of my bed.
"Hell. I'm already late for school." I started to rush around my room, looking for something to put on and all that. I threw on a light black hoodie and some black skinny jeans with dark purple converse that had a skull on the side. I grabbed my messenger bag and rushed out of my room.
When I walked out into the open, I saw my brother eating some cereal.
"Bout time you woke up. You're late." He said as he took a bite of cereal.
I sighed. "I know." I wasn't sure what I was going to do about breakfast. I didn't have enough time to just sit down and eat cereal so I quickly grabbed a granola bar from the pantry. My brother finished his breakfast and put the dirty bowl in the sink.
"I might be coming home late again tonight so you're going to have to find some food on your own." He said as he walked out of the kitchen and grabbed his black jacket then pulled it on.
I really didn't like hearing from my own twenty-one year old brother that he's coming home late again so I have to find food for myself. I swear, if anybody knew about our living situation, they might take me away from my brother and put me in a foster home and that's something I really don't want to happen which is why I always keep my home life hush hush.
"Be good at school now and try not to get into too much trouble again. I don't want to get another call from your principle." Trent said as he grabbed his guitar case from the hallway then ruffled my jet black hair before he started to leave the apartment.
"Wait!" I called out.
Trent stopped in his tracks and looked at me. "Yeah?"
"Um...Was I home before you last night?" I asked. I wasn't sure why I was asking. I normally get home before him, no matter what time Trent comes in through the door.
Trent nodded. "Yeah. Why?"
I quickly shook my head. "No reason."
Trent smiled. "Be good now." He said then left the apartment.
I sighed as I watched my brother leave then glanced at the time before leaving out also.

By the time I got to school, I was really late. The hallways were empty and I knew that there is a possibility of me getting a tardy slip or worse, detention. I can't afford to get detention again. I walked over to my locker and opened it up. As I started to put some books into my locker, it felt like there was a presence behind me but when I glanced over my shoulder, I didn't see anybody.
"Great. I hope i'm not going crazy." I muttered to myself then closed my locker door and headed to first period. When I opened up the door and walked in, my teacher looked at me.
"You're late." He told me as he was standing at the front of the class.
"I know. I'm sorry."
"Detention." He said suddenly.
I blinked my eyes. "D-detention?! But.."
My teacher wrote out a pink slip then handed it to me. "I hope you'll be there this time." He said as he held out the pink detention slip to me and I snatched it out of his hand. I sighed and headed straight to my seat in the back. Seriously. Could this day get any worse?
***
Throughout the day, I had this strange feeling that someone was watching me but everytime I looked over my shoulder or looked around me, nobody was there but the typical students I see everyday. I seriously hope i'm not seeing things or whatever. I can't afford to go crazy now and be put into a mental hospital. Then again, my brother might not even notice.
Finally, once school ended, detention rolled around. I dreaded going to detention all day and i'm upset at the fact that once it's over, there might be a chance that I won't be able to make it to the library today and it's all because my alarm clock didn't wake me up this morning.
When I reached the detention room, I walked inside. The teacher in charge was already sitting at the teacher's desk.
"Be quiet and don't make a sound. You may do some homework or read." He said as he just sat there, watching me. I found a decent seat in the middle of the room and sat down. Then I pulled out some homework from earlier classes. This was definitely going to be a long afternoon.
Only a half hour went by when the teacher decided to get up.
"I'm going to go make a phone call. Be good." He said then left the room.
I sighed as I watched him leave then sat back in my seat and kicked my feet up on the desk. I laid my head back on the desk behind me and closed my eyes.
"I can't wait till I get out of here..." I mumbled then slowly opened up my eyes to see a guy sitting two seats behind me. I jumped out of my seat and shouted.
"Ahhh!" I stared at the guy in front of me.
"Hello, Riley." He spoke up.
How did this guy know my name?
"Who...who are you?" I quickly checked him out. "You obviously don't go to this school because you looked to be...twenty-five?" I said.
The guy smiled then stood up. "In human years, yes." He said as he made his way over to me.
I narrowed my eyes in confusion as I watched him walk over to me.
"In human years? What are you saying? You're not human?" I lightly chuckled nervously. I hope this guy was kidding.
The guy looked at me and smiled. He was at least a few inches taller than me. He had dark hair and was sorta masculine but not to the point where he looked like a huge football player.
"Um...you need to leave now before my teacher comes back in." I finally said but the guy didn't seem to get it because he started to walk closer to me. I pushed myself back onto my desk but I didn't get very far.
"Did...did you not here me? I said you need to leave."
The guy continued to walk closer and closer to me till he was hovering over me then he slowly reached his hand up to my face and cupped my cheek. I don't know if i'm imagining things but it seemed like he was starting to move his face closer to mines.
"W-wait! What if my teacher comes back! Wait if..." I quickly stopped talking as I felt his face close to mines and I could feel his breath on my face. I felt his lips gently brush up against mine but he didn't kiss me. Instead, he just pulled away and smiled.
I started to feel a sigh of relief as he backed away from my personal space. I really didn't like it when people jumped inside my bubble. It makes me really uncomfortable.
"Wha...why did you do that?" I finally asked.
The guy just continued to smile. "You're cute when you squirm."
I felt myself feeling fuzzy inside but then it was quickly replaced by anger.
"You...you need to leave. Like, now." I said then turned him around and pressed my hands against his back. I started to push him away.
"Okay! Okay! I'll leave." He said then walked over to the open classroom window and jumped right out. I blinked my eyes in surprise and rushed over to the window to see where he had gone to but he disappeared. I sighed then stepped back.
"That guy is really weird..."
