PROLOGUE
She fell from her bed. The pain from falling hadn’t even registered in her mind as she tried to shut the blasting sound in her ears. Her head felt like it was splitting. The harder she covered her ears the louder the sound got. She stopped balling herself and removed her hands from her ears to try and stand up.
But as she turned to look at her shaking hands, she saw that they came back bloodied. Desperate for help, she started to stand up only to fall back down on the floor. She gave up on her feet. She couldn’t seem to command them, they felt like jelly, so she just started crawling towards her bedroom door.
When she reached the door, she used the wall to stand up, leaving a trail of bloody hand prints on her pastel wallpaper. She wrapped a shaky hand on the doorknob and pushed the door open. She stumbled through the hallway, leaning on the wall to make sure she doesn’t fall.
Her surrounding started spinning so she kept blinking her eyes to try and bring them back in focus. The hallway was transforming into a swirly maze. She dragged her feet, trying to find the exit of the unfamiliar place. And suddenly, she started falling.
The maze vanished as she rolled down the stairs and landed on her back. She didn’t have the strength to stand up as she stared at the white ceiling. She raised her shaking right hand to cover the light from the bulb that seemed to be getting brighter.
The sound in her ears became louder and she rolled over and vomited. Her sight turned white, then red, and then finally black.
“The world is...plagued by this...frequency that just...of nowhere! The government cannot specify where...from but every...radios, and computers are going wild,”
The female reporter in the TV continued her job despite the fact that the news was being disturbed by the very frequency she was reporting. The television would be interrupted by static every couple of seconds.
“A lot of people...able to hear it but...just in! The affected...to monsters!” the reporter finished before the camera changed to a different place.
The outside was in chaos. With people that could hear the mysterious sound rushing towards the hospital, pushing their way through the panicked crowd just to be first in line. Some people even started to loot as others claimed it to be the end of the world. A few had not made it to the hospital and had passed out in the streets.
The affected people started convulsing. As they did, they started changing. And when they came too, they were no longer the people they were before; not in mind or appearance. They became monsters. Their eyes glazed over and bloodied. Their jaws opened by large, canine teeth. And they developed an appetite for humans.
One such creature ran towards the cameraman. The camera turned upward at the sky but the bloodcurdling scream of the man was recorded before the TV was defeated by the static and the news no longer appeared.
