Catching Feelings

Throw me a feeling and I’ll catch it.

I’ll feel how you feel.

I’ll cry as you cry.

But I can’t laugh as you laugh.

.

Its easy to feel the low emotions.

The ones everyone throws away because they aren’t what they want.

Those are the ones easiest to catch, to fish out of the garbage can of life.

.

Through the litter, the rubbish, some can strike gold.

Golden, a ray of light, they’ll feel.

However, through the bleak grey, light is hard to come by.

.

Sometimes what you get you can’t get rid of.

Like gum stuck to your mind, your heart.

You peel and pull, nevertheless, there’s still some there for you to pick at later.

.

Some emotions repel others.

A shield of unhappiness.

A cloud covering the sun.

A fog to get lost in that surrounds you on all sides, sucking you in and burying you away.

.

I’m sure its easy to guess what I’ve caught:

A cold, numb, dark, my-world-forever-shaking-so-that-

something-

may-

fall-

and-crush-me feeling.

.

Please, won’t you throw me something else?

Won’t you reel me in?

Send down a rope?

Just, help me?

.

I wish that I could be given more than merely a cup to scoop out the sea I’m downing in.
