100 years ago, humans developed teleportation technology that allowed intergalactic transportation to become instantaneous, and they began to inhabit planets that were not previously reachable. And among those planets, was a solar system in the Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy, with 25 planets to a star, and many more Solar Systems mere light years away. But that wasn't created such an appeal, no, the appeal came from the fact that there were space dragons. At night, between the stars and moons and other planets, dragons would fly around the vacuum, and they'd roost in their respective planets once a month, stocking up on food and anything else they needed. And after years of study, some humans managed a rudimentary language system to communicate with these dragons.
The first time a human spoke with these dragons, the dragons would up laughing helplessly on the ground with tears in their eyes, because they sounded not unlike a hatchling that just came out of an egg. But the dragons stayed on the planets longer now, speaking among each other and to the humans, who were quickly learning the ins and outs of the dragonic language, and the dragons learning the human language alongside them.
A century later, humans and dragons live alongside one another in the Canis Major Dwarf, CMD for short. Humans are learning how to create spacesuits that will allow them to travel on dragons from planet to planet, and are trying to branch out into other solar systems. But that may all soon change. For more humans from Earth (Earth-borns) are learning of what is occurring in the CMD, and they are eager to get dragons on their hands and enslave them for their own gain. Political and cultural tensions are high as a dragon and human child meet by chance, and despite each family trying to isolate them, their bond grows stronger, until the human runs away with the dragon, eager to set things right in CMD, no matter what it takes.
