Energy.
It can neither be created nor destroyed.
Before there could be anything, there was energy. A swirling ball of it.
It was all that was known of the universe before the gods decided to use it and fashion a world for themselves. They tired of simply existing and desired to know life in a manner that satisfied them beyond that of what they have always known. They craved to know sensuality and fully experience the extent of love. They wished to create life, take it back, and appreciate it when it is lost. They wanted to know what revenge was and how to handle all-consuming hate. They even wanted to understand what it meant to mourn and feel grief. They wanted to be worshipped and wished to spread beauty, light, and love through everything they touched. They wanted every being to look at themselves and know that they were created by the true gods and that there can be no others. They wanted to fathom the idea of greed and selfishness. Essentially, they wanted to be mortal... but they did not know the meaning of their longings just yet. They would soon comprehend it all. They would know what it felt like to be wracked with guilt. They would come to terms with what it meant to be bogged down by stress and overwhelmed with growing responsibilities. They would know disappointment and become overcome with anger. They would know fear and understand despair. However, unlike that of mortals, they would not renege on anything they wished for as they welcomed it all and cherished everything they would come to know.
Their wishes were granted.
Calling upon their timeless abilities, the gods put their plan into motion. They spoke into existence anything and everything they could think of. Their imagination knew no bounds and it was truly a sight to behold. Beings of insurmountable power working together to bring about the stars of all colors, shapes, and sizes that danced and brought life to the heavens. Order and chaos pooling their energies to create the multitudes of worlds and various accompanying moons revolving around their own personal suns. Suns that ranged in color and size, giving off specific amounts of heat and power to all the worlds that orbited them. Countless solar systems were created, some massive and some small, but they all held a special place in the hearts of the gods.
All the efforts that the gods put into this endeavor began to give off excess energy. Spurts of phosphorescence that illuminated everything in its path. The resulting darkness fled from the light causing there to be a separation of grand proportions. Night and day became their names. Bodies of water and landmasses alike formed as the gods spoke in tongues no mere mortal could understand. The power of the gods was a fickle thing though. These omnipotent beings mated for their entire existence, however, out of the unholy unions between gods and goddesses that were never meant to be came the birth of chaos. Spheres of matter that could not sustain life with only the power to destroy worlds, among other things and beings.
Sobos came to be the name of the universe they created and it wasn't long before it became time to name the worlds across their galaxies. Among the first to be named was a world given the epithet Ludrion. The gods believed that it was important to breathe life into the universe and deemed it best to start with him. He orbited a beautiful and enormous red sun, which his first inhabitants would call Xaitis and associate its power with the gods. Ludrion was proud to be the only world with three moons surrounding him instead of just the mediocre one or two. Kienus was the smallest of Ludrion's moons and is the only one to exist with the capability of sustaining mortal life. The middle-sized moon would be called Quavis by Ludrion's first inhabitants for it shined the brightest in the night sky and was always watching over them during the darkness before it became a new day. The largest moon of all was called Zayliv, the home of the gods. Thinking it best to claim this particular moon for themselves, the gods finally had a resting place to call home. They were drawn to this moon. For some reason, their incredible might and power seemed to flourish more there than it ever had before. Because of this, no mortal being could ever live there unless permission was granted to them by the all-powerful beings who created them. The sheer power radiating off of Zayliv could crush a mortal, much like the weight of an enormous body of water on the ocean's floor.
Unlike other worlds of Sobos, Ludrion wasn't the largest planet in the universe but he was indeed the most beautiful. His inhabitants also made him the most unique. Not only did creatures of all kinds dwell within his being, he was also made up of five different realms. North of the Faridat Sea was Jeildrai, south of the same sea was Telyssia and within the watery deep was Atu Salis. Ermiyas rested in the bosom of the clouds and deep below the surface of the terra laid Saju'Rah.
The realms of Ludrion became famous all on their own merits. The creatures living in each are all very different from one other but it does not stop any of them from making power plays for their respective thrones. Out of the aquarian realm, Atu Salis, there came to be mermaids that could bend the wills of others with their soul capturing songs, serpentines that granted wishes, sea witches that bargained in blood, and other denizens of the deep. Those of Telyssian birth came to be of elven blood, light and dark, nymphs that drew their magicks from the terra, mages that were blessed by the gods themselves, wolven shifters charged with protecting the realm, and many more. Of the Jeildraiyans, there came to be vampires whose immortal blood can be traced throughout the ages, wielders of elemental forms of energy and magick, and Quavis-bound lycans, which were very different from the wolves of Telyssia. However, if the two species were to meet, they might think of each other as distant relatives. The mermaids of Atu Salis do, however, happen to make it a habit of gracing Telyssians and Jeildraiyans with their presence, singing them to a deep sleep to be lured to their deaths. But, not too often as their survival depended on the aquarian comforts of their home.
When it came to the aerial realm of Ermiyas, the gods created beings of goodness and light calling them samgels. The souls of those who were deemed innocent by following the path of light were allowed to pledge their allegiance to the gods and join the samgelian ranks to continue their divine work. The purpose of the samgelian race was to guide the souls of the fallen to their final resting place on Quavis. The path to the brightest moon was not for the faint at heart and the samgels needed worthy steeds that could carry them through time and space to safely guide those good and just fallen souls to the afterlife. The samgels were then blessed with the ability to fashion beings for themselves and thus brought forth aerial serpents that breathed heavenly fire and commanded the skies. Ethereal draconic beings forged into existence with clouds crystalized by the power of Xaitis, the red sun, and pure celestial light. These beasts were the most powerful creatures that were not created by the gods. The samgels were a very proud race and took their responsibilities seriously, however, they were not blessed with the gift of childbearing with one another. This was the cause of the majority of the samgelian half-bloods known as verilim that populated the terra of Ludrion, never being able to ascend to the glorious cities of light in the sky until after their deaths.
Unfortunately, the gods could not leave the world unbalanced for there could not be good without evil. Such disproportions would cause chaos to consume Ludrion, turning him into an apocalyptic black star. Thus devilish creatures known as drezaris, born of darkness and stygian fire, were created to populate the hell realm that is Saju'Rah. The drezaris were charged with ferrying the souls of the wicked to the deepest levels of the pits where they would grumble and gnash their teeth for all eternity. Unlike their Ermiyan counterparts, the demon born drezaris were not blessed with the same abilities. They could not create life by breathing their breath into anything. They grew green-eyed with covetousness and stole many dragons from the realm in the sky to fashion their own winged steed. Drawing their power from the harnessing of black stars around the universe, came the birth of draconic beings corrupted by the darkness from the pits of Saju'Rah that breathed stygian fire. Jealousy is a monster of its own as the drezaris had no reason to become envious, for they did not know that the samgelians could not bring forth life from their own loins with each other as they could. Such unions between drezaris birthed the sanguine-hounds of Saju'Rah that were spirit bound to each and every wicked soul that had the misfortune of making the hell realm their home in the afterlife.
But, of course, we cannot forget humans. They too make this magnificent world their home. Unlike those of other solar systems, the humans here are not the dominant race nor are they at the top of the food chain. However, they are not to be underestimated. Although powerless they may seemingly be, they are cunning creatures and can bring about the downfall of many of their superiors. Some of them, in their desperation for special abilities of their own, made deals with the drezaris. They went as far as selling their bodies, spirits, souls, and anything they could think of for even the smallest amount of power. The result of some of these unions were the demon born half-bloods called zerilim with the ability to create life from their breath and their loins.
The demon born and samgelian half-bloods both made the terra of Ludrion their home populating most of the islands in the Telyssian and Jeildraiyan realms. While the verilim did not mind mating with their demon born counterparts, the zerilim grew to be a haughty race and prided themselves on keeping their blood pure... as pure as it could be. Zerilim were not as powerful as their hell-bound forefathers but their affinity for the sanguine arts and black magick grew until they were formidable in their own right. They even discovered a way to commune with spirits beyond the Ludrial plane. Seeking a higher purpose and the desire to spread their newfound knowledge with any who would listen, the resulting ideology and rituals became known as Bek'Uns. These teachings drew many followers and they congregated in Churches of Twilight all throughout the world. The abilities of the verilim were not so different from that of the zerilim but instead of seeking to spread what they deemed an unnecessary doctrine, they preferred to focus on self. Their lives took on a carnal turn as they sought to sate the needs of only the flesh. It was a wonder these beings still found themselves among the samgels in Ermiyas, pledging to serve the gods in their afterlife even after such a life of self-serving as theirs.
Time passed and the gods came to claim the terra of Ludrion as their playground. They created all of its inhabitants, from the lightest elf to the darkest zerilim. Because of this, they became known and worshipped in all the realms... just by different names. However, there was something about Ludrion's solar system that the gods couldn't quite place. It captivated them and lead them to believe that there was something amiss. You see, the realms of the Ludrial plane were not the only places to have inhabitants, oh no. We shall not forget that the smallest moon that orbits this great world can support life as well. Kienus, although small, is the perfect fit for those of a different kind of blood. One of the goddesses, in particular, was hungry for power and wished to have a personal source of worship. It was she who was partial to a special being. One with a power that surpasses even the samgels of the Ermiyan realm. Winged creatures of various sizes and a special brand of magick exclusive to their kind alone. Faeries. It was a great honor to be under the tutelage of a faerie, one that not many had. When a faerie calls, one must always answer. Kienus then became known as the Land of the Fae.
The gods amused themselves with their creations for a while before they grew bored and came together as one birthing the many minor gods and goddesses that populate Zayliv in the process. The first being a set of triplets. Iris, the goddess of mischief and mother of nymphs, Azien, the god of death, and Ojun, the goddess of light. The triplets found favor in the eyes of their parents immediately and were doted upon until they began to display unsavory traits that led to a dangerous time. Iris, Azien, and Ojun, being the most powerful of the many godly children, lost control of their abilities much too often and wrought chaos upon the Ludrial plane. Before the world could be completely obliterated, they were imprisoned on a black star far away from the comfort of the red sun. Taking this action had pained the gods greatly but it was necessary. The triplets were sentenced to exile for a millennium because of their incorrigible behavior. But, who could blame them? They were mere children who were consumed by the power they possessed. One could even say that the gods were in way over their heads when it came to the concept of having to actually rear their children. The gods ceased child-bearing for a while after these events as they feared for the lives of their creations. So many of the beings the gods created had lost their lives to the trio. The Ludrial plane had also almost become barren of all life. This time of darkness became known all over the galaxies as the Age of the Black Void, for that is what Ludrion almost became. It was a lesson the gods and their children learned from very quickly. However, the gods were ever merciful and allowed the triplets to earn their place beside them on Zayliv again. But, the experience would leave them all changed forevermore. The terra of Ludrion recovered from the chaos and the creations of the gods did as well. The world began to flourish as the red sun's power healed the Ludrial plane and erased the sins wrought upon it over time so that it could yet again become the oasis it once was.
And so, Ludrion and his moons became well known all throughout the Sobosian Universe in its entirety. Many beings of all kinds have traveled to Ludrion and the multitudes all seem so compelled to stay. Why don't you?
