I couldn’t silence those frost bitten tears, unable to swipe away all the pain, I’m left baffled
No sensible words would leave my lips to hush hers. So I gave up on words, minutes passed with her cries filling the silence. The void endless as she slowly sank to the floor in the cold night, snow fell all around us.
I couldn’t hold her close enough, can’t hold her any closer. Her breath is already right against my skin, tingling the base of my neck, teeth grazing my shoulder, her lips quiver in silence. I can feel her body shivering in my arms. Her hiccups keep turning the air before us into exasperated gasps of fogs. Her spine felt so fragile against my fingertips, as if one light brush could cause each vertebra to collapse in on itself..
I find myself simultaneously wanting press her body up against my chest, but also to flee far far away from her. Hold her tighter and she might crumble, but if I don’t hold her tight enough she might fall completely apart at my feet..
Her skin is pale, turned deathening translucent from the ice cold air. All color drained from her.
Her brows closing the distance between them, crinkling her forehead. Her mouth twist in confusion and denial. Her eyes darting to my face, meeting my gaze, and holding my reflection.
Moments stretched on for eons.
Then finally I saw it, looking into her eyes as it hit her.
Her eyes cleared as her all to familiar blue eyes crystallized in clarity. Tears ceased as horror stops her crying, but it did no good to wipe away her despair.
Her hair spills out before us, tangling before us, sticky from sitting in the dark puddle creeping further out from beneath us.
Her lips continue to tremble through each passing second, unable to believe what’s left between us.
Her eyes never left mine unacquainted.
I never thought anyone looked more beautiful under death’s kiss.
My lips are pressed tightly against hers, sealing her last breath, and taking with it, what was left of my soul. My eyes never left hers. I don’t know what I expected, but the light never went out for me. Not even when it fade in the back of hers.
I pressed the blade further into her abdomen.
May our lips never part and may death be our witness to this holy matrimony.
