The next day, I go to the antique store to look for Halloween decorations. I get to the antique store and greet the manager good morning with a smile.
"Good morning," she replies. "Let me know if you need anything."
I just continue walking, looking at the different things on the shelves. Suddenly, I hear two familiar voices. One says,
"Oh, come on. You know you want to."
"Shut up, you idiot."
"But--"
"I said shut up! Is that understood, Samual?"
I follow the voices and lean against a shelf and cross my arms as I watch the two of them have a dispute.
"What's the big deal about?"
Samual looks at me. "Oh, hi Validia."
Timothy turns around as he says, "Vali-who?"
"Oh, hello. I can tell you found a new range of words. How interesting."
"Who on earth are you?"
"You don't know who I am?"
"I meant your name."
"My name is Countess Validia Vaquez. I am the most powerful vampire in the world."
"Haha. That's funny. Last time I checked, there is no vampire that is more powerful than Dracula."
"Mm. That's nice. You'd be surprised, though." I sigh. "Who were you talking about anyway?"
"We were only talking about a girl named Maria. Why are you worried about it?" He sets a cup down and approaches me.
I just stand there and watch as he grabs my jaw. "I am so scared," I mumble sarcastically.
"Who are you?" He demands.
"I told you." I grab his wrist and pull him closer. "I am the queen of every last vampire--undead or not--in the world, including Mr. Dracula. Don't try me. I can kill you in a heartbeat as easily as you can kill any human. So, like I said, don't try me." I shove him away and cross my arms. "Now, if you don't mind, I have some shopping to do."
I turn around and leave that little area.
************
Later, I go to the Dracula Café in my human form and get a cocktail. I sit for two hours, waiting for a waitress. Five more minutes pass by without a waitress coming and I decide to go ask for one. I walk up to the counter and lean on it, waiting. The bartender walks over and says,
"May I help you?"
"Yes, um, I need a waitress. I've been waiting for two hours and one still hasn't come anywhere close to my table. I swear, I will pay you every last bit of change in my pocket if you get me a waitress."
"All I can tell you is that you can either wait and try and get the attention of one, or you can get your check and leave. Now please sit down."
"But, please. I need a waitress. And now. I'm about to lose my patience. Please, just one waitress."
"Alright. Just please sit down. I'll get you one in a minute."
I turn around and go to head back to my seat when I feel something ice cold splash the back of my head and neck. I turn back around and glare at him.
"Sorry, miss, it was an accident." He smiles and fills up the empty cup with beer.
I go to turn around and he dumps the beer all over me. I gasp.
"I'm so very sorry. Again, an--"
I lean over the counter and grab his collar. "You're going to wish you were sorry." I shove him back and throw my cocktail at him. "Forget the fucking waitress. And the damn payment." I turn away.
"But you aren't aloud to leave without paying!" He shouted. "Or you aren't aloud back in here!"
I whirl around to face him. "Or else I'm not aloud back in here," I repeat with a laugh. "Oh, that's too funny." I stop laughing. "But what's really going to be funny, is when you find out who I really am--and everyone in here--and regret it."
He laughs. "I'm so scared," he says sarcastically.
I pull my cardigan off and walk up to a table. I climb up onto it and turn towards the bartender.
"Get down from there!" Someone shouts.
I turn to my right and see the manager. I sneer at him. "Come make me!"
He walks over to the bar counter and grabs a bottle of beer. He throws it at me. It hits my chest and shatters, beer spilling down the front of my dress.
I jump down from the table and change into my vampire form. I approach him and the crowd gasps as they notice me. "I wise you watch what you do, young man. Because if you don't, I will be the worst fucking nightmare you've ever had." I grab him and throw him aside. Then, I lean in and grab the bartender by his collar. I pull him close. "And you, mister, can fucking forget you even saw me. Next time this shit happens, you're fucking dead. And I don't mean undead, either. I mean dead." I push him back, grab my cardigan and head towards the door. I go out the door and storm down the street. I turn into the park and stop at the Vlad the Impaler statue. I look to the right of it.
It's a statue of the human version of myself. But they aren't finished with it. I look to the middle and down. A little statue of Little Zaleska. I feel tears fill my eyes.
I touch her statue smiling face. "My baby Zaleska."
"What on earth are you doing? It's just a statue."
I wipe my eyes and turn around. "Go away. Where ever the fuck you are." I go to turn around when someone all in black steps into the light.
"Why should I go away?" He smiles as the light glints in his eyes and I realize who he is.
"Count Dracula," I mutter.
"Do what? What did you say?"
"Hmm? Oh, nothing. Sorry." I turn away and walk around the statues. I hear him following me. I glance behind me and regret it. I speed up, then stop. I turn around. "Why are you following me?"
"Because."
"Because why?"
He reaches for me and for some reason, I don't smack his hand away like I would anyone else trying to touch me. He grabs my arm and pulls me closer. He wraps his arms around me. "Why do you smell like beer?"
"Because some idiot dumped beer all over me and another one threw a bottle full of beer at me."
He pulls me even closer. "You're absolutely beautiful. I still remember you from somewhere." He smiles again. "Ah, yes. The library."
I look up at him as he strokes my hair. "You know, you really don't have to do this."
"Why not?" He sighs and looks into the distance. "I know who you are." He looks back at me. "And I heard you have feelings for someone. I'm most definitely sure it's not me."
I just stand there, taking in the warmth of his body in the coolness of the night air. I sigh. Even though I don't want to be away from him, I ask, "Could you let go now? I have to get home."
"I could take you home."
"I'll be fine. I can walk."
"No, no, no. I insist." He reaches down and pulls up my legs. He carries me to a car and opens the passenger door. He sets me inside and shuts the door. He gets walks around the front of the car and gets in on the drivers side. He shuts the door and starts the car. I just sit there as he pulls out of the park parking lot. He pulls out onto the street and heads East. Twenty minutes later, he pulls into my driveway. He puts the car in park and we just sit there.
"How the hell do you know where I live?"
He shrugs. "I know where everyone lives." He turns the car off and gets out. He comes over to my side and opens the door. I look up at him and he picks me up. He shuts the door and walks up to the house. He opens the door and walks inside. He shuts the door with his foot and walks through the house. He comes to a bedroom and opens the door. He goes inside and walks to the bed. He sets me down and walks over to the door. He shuts the door and walks back over to the bed. He takes my cardigan and throws it on the floor.
I go to get up and he stops me. "I need a bath, idiot. I reek of beer."
He gets up and picks me up. He takes me to the bathroom and sets me on the floor with my head over the side of the bathtub. He opens a cupboard and grabs a bottle of soap.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm going to wash your hair."
"Oh, please don't. I can do it myself."
He shuts the cupboard and walks over. He sets the bottle down and rolls up his sleeves. He turns the water on and smiles down at me.
Fifteen minutes later, he takes me back to my bedroom and sets me on the bed. He pulls my shoes off and puts them on the floor. I watch as he slips his shoes off and takes off his cape. He takes off his black over shirt and lies down beside me. He wraps his arm around my shoulders and I rest my head on his left shoulder.
I sigh. "Why are you staying?"
"Because I have the right to."
I laugh. "That's too funny."
He sighs. "Not very."
I sigh again and snuggle closer.
Suddenly, I feel his hand move to the zipper on my dress. I feel him unzip it and he pulls off my dress.
I groan. "Oh, please don't."
I watch as he unbuttons his own shirt and takes it off, revealing his chest. He throws both his shirt and my dress on the floor. He pulls me closer.
"Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Don't you dare."
"Ah, come on. It's not like you're going to get pregnant. You are a vampire, in case you've forgotten."
"Yeah, but unlike any other female vampire, I can actually reproduce, idiot."
He laughs. "I really don't care." He pulls me closer and continues to undress me.
For some stupid reason, I pull him closer.
"Are you literally going to let me fuck you?"
I just pull him closer and kiss him on his lips, trying to get him to shut up. He pulls away.
"What was that for?" His eyes glitter as he looks me into my eyes.
"If you don't shut up, I'll do it again."
"No thank you."
"Then shut up."
"Fine." He sighs. "I am leaving after this."
"That's nice."
He just smiles at me.
